I know there are other alternatives to a winamp desklet. Like using sysmetrix, or a winamp skin or a winamp docklet.
I was pointed to this program called Winamp Control Center[ link ] when I was working on a samurize config. Which has proven handy once again.
This program will start winamp for you if its closed as well.
This prob isn't the best solution and im sure someone has done this before.
But I just set up a few shortcuts to the program to control winamp as needed. One neat thing I did find about doing this is that you can have labels for each portion of the controller and if all the png's are the same size then the label always ends up in the same spot. You might think wont avedesk get messed up when the images overlap. Good news is it doesn't only part that avedesk uses are the none transparent parts to activate the shortcut. so as long as the image is transparent it can be as big as you want..
There are a few drawbacks with this..
No progress Bar or Song Text.
All the buttons are shorcuts so you might have to double click for them to work(depending on your settings).
AveDesk Control Panel gets even longer(especially if you want more functions)...
Some Notes if you wanna try this..
Having the images the same size will make things easier when your moving and resizing.
Read the instructions for the Winamp Control Center to get more options on controlling winamp.
Try not to use the effects. Out of the ones I tried glow seemed to be the only one that worked without making things weird(visually)
