it looks pretty good. The expose clone that is free will win all.

#229886

That is nice but $20.00 is way too steep of a price.

#229887

As allways, is the first expose clone that not interact badly with the kapsules/konfabulator widgets.

That is great.

But I expect the possibility to have an exclusion list. Don't like the Objectbar to dissapears.

Nice, but its got a way to go to compete with Entbloess 2. Especially for the price.

entbloess works fine with konfab with me at least.

also, it's horrible to have a trial version where just about all of its touted features are disabled. might as well have just given screen shots.

nomis_nehc: The trial version shows off the main feature of the application. All other features (minimized windows, application-only windows) are an extension of this main feature.

We chose to cripple the trial because most users object to applications installing hidden "cookies" on their machine in order to implement time or usage limits. Removing non-core features from the trial allows us to avoid this invasion of privacy.

The recommended system requirements are:

Windows XP Service Pack 2. Everyone has not jumped on this yet.

2.0 GHz CPU or higher. OK... I'll give you this one.

1 GB RAM or higher. Screams that this is a resource hog.

ATI 9800 level, nVidia 6800 level, or higher graphics card. Still very pricey video cards.

With those recommended settings, you just eliminated a majority of your customer base.

I understand you have listed minimum requirements, but if they are not supported, what's the point.

The only thing that comes to mind is this thing must be a resource hog.

Please note that TopDesk does not currently support multiple monitors, and does not dynamically update the contents of tiled windows. TopDesk is powered by OpenGL (link opens in new window).
I'm also not sure why it says it needs a DirectX 9 compatible card when you state it's powered by OpenGL.

For a $19.95 price tag, it sure is limited in what and who can use it.

These are just my opinions and observations.

btw... I'm the type of annoying a$$ that actualy reads the fine print on something before I sign it.

Car dealerships hate me.

im not sure why everyone is being negative... lets try and test the software and then help to make it better. Simply regurgitating system requirements is not going to help make this a better program. Lets try to keep this thread heading in the right direction

Test it out... then offer your opinions

That's the point... I can't test it as my laptop won't run it.

MOST laptops will not be able to run this.

And if you noticed, I was not "Simply regurgitating system requirements", I was merely attempting to point out it's faults and contradictions.

Take a deep breathe and chill.

Edit: btw... I'm running a IBM ThinkPad T-41, which is a pretty beefy laptop.

Hmm..."...

Minimum System Requirements:

Windows XP.

1.0 GHz CPU.

256 MB RAM.

32 MB DirectX 9 compatible video card...

These are some steep system requirements.

I guess they won't hurt on my future Athlon64/Geforce 6600/6800 rig ;)

Animation works nicely on mine, but the price is a little steep, especially with some other good Expose clones out there.

wiebeest: The minimum system requirements are the minimum requirements you will need to run TopDesk with satisfactory performance. TopDesk will run on systems with less than the minimum system requirements, but the performance will be lacking. In 2004, the minimum system requirements are similar to what most graphics applications expect (including games such as Half Life 2).

rjohnstone: When running, TopDesk will use around 20-30 MB RAM on a system with around 15-30 windows open. We do not consider this amount of memory usage "resource hogging". We recommend a DirectX 9 compatible graphics card because more people understand that their video card is DirectX 9 compatible rather than "OpenGL 1.2" compatible. Multiple monitors will be supported in a future release.

Those are recommended system requirements. Recommended system requirements are what we recommend for the absolute best performance. Like most other applications with recommended requirements, there is nothing stopping you running TopDesk on a system with less than the recommended requirements. Most laptops can infact run TopDesk, and the performance of TopDesk on even two year old laptops is quite satisfactory. The trial version costs nothing and takes a few minutes to download and try out - doing so will answer all your questions about the applications requirements.

.

Agreed, and with my new pc specs it just screems for an exposé like app.

Hmmm, I won't be rushing to splurge $20 on this. Sounds like a bit of optimisation is in order.

#247597

errors out with multiple monitors. Winplosion still the best.
