[Request] Bzeitler WindowBlinds Mod

I thought that my last post under an actual WB release may have been in the wrong place.

I would like to see all of Bzeitlers WB releases come with the option for a Win logo instead of the apple logo on the startbutton. Right now I'm using Tiger by Kol because of this. Bzeitler makes some awesome themes, but the apple logo puts me off of using them. I'm very proud to own a Windows machine, and never had any issues with it, aside from the visual side of windows it's a great machine.

I don't really know how hard it would be to do, but if it's not to hard I would like to see these additions.

You can do it yourself. There's just 1 bitmap to replace.

I wish I could, but in the case of Bzeitler it would be like someone dropping paint on the Mona Lisa. My best creation to date was posted in the wallpaper section. I would only ruin the whole thing by trying to change it. Bzeitlers WB creations are true works of Art. I love em all. I love the Apple/Mac style, only not the logo since I run em on Windows.

If it's only one bitmap, why doesn't everyone creat an option to change it?

Even if I could make it look good, I still wouldn't even know where to start.

Sadly adding in the Winflag substyles would double the sizes of the skins' folders....

You could just try asking Bz to make a generic Winflag. Then, since you know how to Photoshop, you ought to be able to colorize them as you wish. Download Stardock's Skinstudio and click on the Start Button in the Preview Pane when you load up the skin. That will bring you right to the area where you can change the source bitmap.

Somewhere on this site is a link that has plenty of logos in photoshop shapes (windows, laying down winflag, apple, ie, and more).

Thanks for the help. I still thank I'll destroy his Work of arts if I mess with em, and really the file sizes wouldn't matter to me as I usually burn the file to CD and only install what I use at the moment. I love all his work, but the apple logo really bugs me . I'm starting to think I have a complex asking for a win logo on an aqua-soft web site. Like everyones looking at the new guy in horor!

I may just have to resign myself to a life of Tiger by Kol I think.

Not to bring it up again. I have tried to modify the start button Logo in skin studio and I had to delete the whole skin and re-install it again to get the original back.

I can't seem to get it to look like it belongs with the theme(or any theme).

Does anyone have any suggestions?

There isn't a Forum for people who like both Aqua and windows styles is there?

I love the aqua style, just not the apple logo that goes with it.

just open up kols tiger... open his start menu image in photoshop.. open mine.. open my image in photoshop.. copy kols over mine.. save it.. apply the theme and you are done.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that when I get home. How would it work on your themes like Paper and Plastic though. I don't believe that the start button is the same.

The real reason why I ask this is I like Kol's tiger, but fancy a change to another great theme, but most themes don't have the choice.

To me there is just something wrong about an apple logo on a windows machine even though I like the style of aqua.

If I made a theme it would make windows classic look like a piece of art.

what didnt work? Maybe if you are more descriptive we could help you to learn to do it. Keep in mind that I knew nothing about making themes when I started my first them like 6 or 7 months ago... Keep trying

Sorry about that. I changed the button with the one from Kol's tiger.

Since your panther update has so many different buttons I tried to replace a few. I didn't have any luck. The buttons became distorted and really looked bad. It stayed the apple logo only a bad version of the apple logo. The two images look nothing like each other either.

Nice theme by the way. First time I ever applied it and it looks great!

BTW, this method won't work for any of the other WB themes will it.

Sorry, but take some time with the GIMP or PSP or Photoshop. This is insanely easy, not really something you need to spam the boards begging for.

Well... a lot of things are easy if you spend a lot of time getting good at them. And, to be fair--my two cents: I think it's a fairly... um... fair, request. I personally find it silly that people try to make their computers "look" like Macs (as opposed to emulating the Aqua style) since, well, they don't have Macs. I like Aqua, not Apple, so I agree that the Apple logo is a put-off.

My very last comment on this subject.

I love the themes from Bzeitler apart from the apple logo.

Yesterday I got some advice about how to change the logo by replacing the BZ one with the Kol version. The end result wasn't good. I've just started using photoshop and I'm very new to moding my computer.

I only requested this because I didn't think it would be much of an issue. I didn't want it to be a spam or a begging thread.

I would be very happy to modify the skin myself but I've tried and wasn't very successful. I must appoligise to everyone for the hassle.

I won't continue to go on about it. I'll just wait until the next great thing comes out that might have all the bells and whistles.

Don't become disheartened so soon First learn how to use Photoshop - I'm sure that you will like it. Then try to learn SkinStudio a bit and mod the themes yourself. You have to understand that fulfilling your request would be a huge issue for bzeitler. I know a little bit about windowblinds skinning and I assure you that it would take a lot of time and needless effort. Why needles? Just do it yourself
