Delicious Library

Hello all,

I was wondering if any of you have used Delicious Library (http://www.delicious-monster.com/). I think its a wonderful piece of software, plus it looks really cool. But does anybody else see the price as just a little steep? Maybe they need high prices to cover costs (webhosting, etc...), but if thats not the case, I cant see why the price is so high. Im asking because I am going to have a hard time explaining to my dad why I need $40 to buy a program that organizes the titles of my DVDs. Im not trying to flame (Mike the software is awsome), I just am curious about other's opinions.

Well, save up for it yourself and stop begging for money

I'm using it although I think it's a bit slow and way to dependend on amazon (not all titles can be found, esp books). Don't really like the info it's getting as well. A summary of a movie and some names of the cast would be cool.

There are freeware options with less of the fancy stuff (gui) but better on information of each titles.

The reason it is $40 is because you have to pay the people that worked on it for a while, not to mention profit. If you made a program with the same quality as Mike Matas has done here, you would too charge a "steep" amount.

Not everyone can do these things for free or for less money. Sometimes they do this for a living, and Mike Matas will go into Software and GUI in his life. Ever since he has been on TechTV (now the ****hole btw), I have watched him become someone amazing, and he deserves every penny he gets (after paying the other developers).

dont get your knickers in a knot lou, it was just a question. if you remember i said "Maybe they need high prices to cover costs (webhosting, etc...), but if thats not the case, I cant see why the price is so high." i understand that employees need to be payed, bills need to be payed, the company needs an office to work out of, webhosting fees need to be covered, so it makes sense that a huge corporation like adobe that pumps out the industry standard program would charge a huge chunk of money. it also makes sense that mike's company would charge a lot for their program if they have a lot of bills to pay, hence i put that into my first post.

i dont think you guys understood my question so let me explain. you purchase a program for the function that it gives you. library organizes your books, dvds, cds, etc...with an outstanding GUI. however, while the graphics are amazing, the core of the program is still simply to organize things that you own. in my opinion, $40 is a little expensive for a program that just organizes my things. i wanted to know your opinions on this.

Its probably the pain in the ass interaction with databases to check those barcodes... have you any idea how difficult that is?

i understand that...the program took a lot of work, and the developers worked their asses off (and hats off to them, the program is amazing). but my question isnt directed at their features. maybe i'm just cheap, but i really dont want to pay $40 for a program that just lists out my dvds and cds, no matter how many cool features it has (unless there is an update that will physically organize all of my dvds on my shelves )

i think that if my money situation was a little different i would be more willing to purchase a program like that, but as of now i dont have a source of income that allows me to make frivolous purchases (especially with the holiday season)...damn 8 nights of presents...
