[question] Widget Placement

Well, now that Konfab is out, widgets are running rampant on people's desktop :) .

I love widgets as much as the next person, but I'm curious as to where people place them to still make your desktop look organized and uncluttered.

For me, AveDesk is a vertical line of widgets on the far right corner, and my dock is at the bottom. Where do I place Konfab, and other widget programs, so it doesn't interfere with desktop icons, and whatnot?

Basically, I'm asking What do you guys do?

Thanks for your input!

Konspose, or ShowCase for AveDesk 1.2

I understand that, and I use both of them, but...

I want to have most of my widgets showing. Any other ideas, anybody?

Whuh? Where did you get Avedesk 1.2 from?

Closed beta, don't ask, say no more.

Personally, I just put my widgets where I have room. For example: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v462/gnomexp/asdfasdf.jpg

Normally, I won't run Konfabulator, but if I would, I would put the clock close to the start menu while keeping my iTunes in the bottom (so I can always see/use it). My other widgets can be covered up, as long as I can see them from time to time. If space is a problem, you can always up resolution.

I don't know, mine just fall into place naturally, really:

Also, if you don't want a cluttered desktop, don't use too many unnecessary widgets.

Mine at the moment... works well.

well. put all the icons on the right and all the widgets on the left. keep the ones that track time and networking, etc in one group, for me, preferably on the right top most. then, below it, shortcut widgets. the calculator, player, and othe rsfuff should be in the middle right next to the tracking widgets and shortcut/avedesk stuff.

i can't post an example because i don't use destop x or anything like that.

remember to keep all the icons cornered up to the left top, and reserve the left bottom and right top and right bottom for the widgets and stuff. also, i have a folder on my desktop called unused shortcuts where stuff i use rarely like antivirus programs, ultiilities, and crap are put in. so my desktop only has folders and homeworks now. because all the shortcuts are on my beautiful dock!

hehe look like this is a "show your konfab desktop" thread. As for me, most of my widgets are Ave (due to the fact that Konfab uses lot of RAM on my system), I just have World Clock pro for Konfab. I would recommend you to run Konfab just for widgets that are not available for Avedesk or Samurize. Here is my ss, just to give you an idea ;)

I keep my widgets here: http://mpj.tomaatnet.nl/clip0051.avi :) Konfab widgets are just floating around.

Whuh? Where did you get Avedesk 1.2 from?

People who donated money get a chance to try out the 1.2 (beta). Sounds fair, no?

Ok, guys, thanks for your help. I will still welcome more suggestions...

And another question.

Anyone know of any registry tweaks that will let me change the starting location of an icon (i.e, if my desktop is blank, and then I d/l something: where it will place this)? Or basically, if there's a way I can limit where my icons go. I have widgets in the upper and lower left corner, covering any icons that might inadvertenly be placed there.

I looked on VirtualPlastic, but I couldn't find anything immediately (I might have missed something, though).

Thanks!

Off conversation, but on thread...put them where you would like them to be...Jesus! No Konfab for me ...Ave rules!

I prefer my desktop as clean as possible... one or two icons on the desktop at most & dock. The only "widget" is iTunes minimized. Several widgets scattered around in Konspose mode

LOL i've been having the same problem.. my avetunes widget on the upper left corner always obscures files downloaded to DT.. gets quite annoying really :slant:
