i wasen't aware of it at all. at least it's not promoting internet explorer. that's a huge surprize for me.
Hmm...in terms of one company promoting another, there's nothing too strange with that...several companies and newspapers have supported Firefox and slammed IE (look on mozilla.org 's front page).

man. i doubt that nvidia would do that for ati nor microsoft do that for firefox.

Heck, my last homepage was plain Google, so this is a welcome surprise!
The start page probably used a lot of bandwidth, especially from people that never changed the defaults, but never really looked at the page (my father for example). Google has loads of bandwidth, so it makes sense for them to help out (firefox promotes google w/ the little search box).
