Os X installed on hard drive

Hey, im wondering about something. Im ready to bid on a couple hard drives from ebay. Now, the drives already have OS 10.3 installed on them (note: one of the drives is an ibook drive, will it work in a powermac g3?). if i put it in my powermac g3, would it crash the system? just need to know before i bid.

Thanks,

Hunter

I've seen Panther running on an iMac G3. It may be a little slow - particularly Exposé - but it should work fine. :)

I would say that it may cause problems - as the install would be setup for another system (networking, processor, ram etc) and although it may not crash, it may cause big confilcts. Although OS X is pretty resistant and I'm pretty sure it would resovle the issues - BUT it may ask for the original disks to update some settings.

I've set up a OS X/Classic install on my Dual G4 (2x 400mhz) and it runs like a dream. I also used to run it on my old iMac 400mhz and again it ran very smoothly.

I've no idea whether an iBook hard drive will run directly in a G3. You may need to buy a mount or whatever they are called to adapt the connections.
