Possible New Blogging Website

Hello everyone.

I come to you people seeking feedback on an idea.

I own, and operate, shellscape.org. I have for nearly the past 5 years. In that time the site has gone from a software front, to a software news site, and back into the nothingness that it exists as today. The whole software news thing was quite a pill to keep up with and I lost interest in it. Since then I've been looking for a new direction for the site.

Recently I've been looking into multi-user, website blogging software and have been actively considering putting that together on shellscape.org.

So I would like some feedback on that. Why, or Why Not, would you use something like this. Would it have to have a particular draw or special feature for you to be interested?

Thanks.

By blogging software, do you mean like those free online blogs? Or like Movable Type/b2evolution, etc?

I have yet to find a blogging system for complete PHP/CSS incompetents like me. I just want a blogging system where I can have the system ready, and so I can just add images to make it look good :)

Yeah im aiming for a website like livejournal.com or modblog.com, where pretty much the entire look of the blog would be editable. So basically like a blog host website, free of course.

So in theory you would signup, edit your template or choose a default template or whatever and shellscape.org/username would be your blog.

Its a nice idea, but don't you think there's already too many of them? However, if you do go ahead with this idea, make sure there is a feature which is outstanding, and that no other blog host website has. That way, your most likely to get more traffic.

I like Movable Type personally.

The question though, andrew_, is what exactly would set you apart from the Bloggers, LiveJournals, Xangas, and, indeed, Jablogs of the world? These are all established hosted blogging engines with various reasons to use one or other.

What, in other words, will be your selling point to someone who could just as well choose one of the other services?
