Somebody must be able to help me now. I have Mozilla Firefox 1.0PR and want to set up any skin that looks like Apple's Safari, which is best, which will owrk best, and which can i set up easiest. Please use ENGLISH and try not to confuse everyone. This should be for anyone looking for the simplest way into Safari Firefox.
FireFox Safari on 1.0 is p-ing me off!
Isn't one a mod of the other? Meaning they install the same way. I could be wrong tho. ![]()
u might wanna edit that title bud cause it`s moronic and add a tag to it.
And nobody HAS TO do anything. This is a free forum.
from what i know Aquarius' theme doesn`t even work with 1.0 PR so that leaves u with only one (excellent) choice. And instructions for hills' theme are pretty straight forward so i don`t see what the big deal is. If ur stuck at a certain step, ask hills (or someone else) for help, don`t start a pointless thread. (since Aquarius' skin doesn`t work with 1.0 PR)
Instructions for hills' theme are actually quite un-helpful--the instructions themselves only spell out about half of what I'm assuming needs to be done. Going step-by-step through them will not actually result in a completed theme, so I'm kind of confused that anyone would find them worth much.
You don't find them worth much, that may be true. But that does not mean other people don't. Besides I've never had a problem using hills' themes. The instructions seem pretty straight-forward to me. Maybe some people are just too dumb.
Or if the instructions are too hard, you could simply use the standalone jar installation:

i voted hills' although, not strictly safari - kyods' port of classic pinstripe http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=20503 and graphite http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=20397 for firefox, are both excellent 1:1 ports of osx firefox themes
and graphite is my favorite, hands down.
If you want a working safari theme (credit to Lynchknot, modded by me FOR PRIVATE USE) which I use, email me and I can send you the jar file...
To install:
1) Open 'Themes' from 'Tools' menu
2) Drag the theme (jar) file onto the Theme window that popped up
3) You need to move some icons around (right-click near address bar of Firefox) and choose - 'customize' and move stuff around then turn off 'navigation toolbar'.
4) Enjoy!
ps - more detailed info about this relatively simple procedure is on the other safari/firefox mod threads already.
Weird... I never really needed all the modded files. All I did was replace the JAR file for the TabBrowser Extensions, and I was able to use hills-roppongi's Firefox themes without any trouble.

fyi: i've been using the brushed sunkenaquablue from there since 1.0pr and it works great. EXCEPT...the find bar is screwy in 1.0 final. i would assume the same i true for all these.
