help: websites layout are not displayed correctly

first off, this is not sucking up, but you guys are awesome! insanely enthusiastic bunch of people :D

okay so here's a problem i've been having. it seems that any website that has a search box is not displayed properly, especially the search box itself. what happens is that the freakin box is really, really long (especially at google.com). at times, it also does not display tables properly.

also, ya know on msn messenger, when a contact is online or when you receive a message, there's a pop up box right on the corner of the screen? well, it's no more a box, but it's a rectangle now that is longer than the typical pop up box.

sorry, i don't really know if this thread this belongs to system files modification.

but uhm, while i'm at it, here's another problem. and this one's with the tabbrowser extension (mod, please let me know if you move this thread to another place :) ). when i want to close a tab, i have to right click on a tab and click Close Tab TWICE. how can i fix this?

my browser is firefox with safari skin.

any help is appreciated. thank you very much.

Maybe i can help you with the first problem, have you change the default system font?

If yes, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionFontSubstitutes

and replace your font with Tahoma in MS Shell Dlg and MS Shell Dlg 2.

The super-long text box in skinned-Firefox is a known problem, with a fix.

I'm not sure exactly where it is-- search the forums for Firefox (in the title), and it will be one of the more recently edited threads (within the last week).

Sorry I couldn't be of more help :)

for the post flyakite made in response to the problem.. i had the same problem too, see, and i emailed him.

if you cant do fix it by removing the registry tweak using the flyakite installer, then try this:

go to run

type "regedit" without the quotes

when regedit opens, press F3 and type "ms shell dlg" without the quotes

it should find "Ms Shell Dlg" and "Ms Shell Dlg 2"

if either of those are set to "lucida grande" change them as follows:

Ms Shell Dlg > "Microsoft Sans Serif"

Ms Shell Dlg 2 > "Tahoma"

then close regedit, and restart your computer.. should display fine now
