Hello,

I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of OpenDarwin 7.2.1 for both ppc and x86 architectures. OpenDarwin 7.2.1 is based on the Darwin 7.2 (which corresponds to Mac OS X 10.3.2) source release and licensed under the APSL. It includes additions and modifications from the OpenDarwin CVS Repository.

Hi there! What about this:

Darwin is just the core of Mac OS X, the stuff they got from UNIX/FreeBSD, tweaked it to be more Mac-Like and released it. Its without the GUI, no Mac OS X app actually works in it, and its just like installing any other type of UNIX-like, or UNIX-based OS.

That's as far as I know. Correct me if I'm wrong.

actually i think in theory if you have the source code for a mac prog you may be able to run it in x on darwin for pc.

The closest thing you're going to get to getting Mac OS X running under Windows at the moment is PearPC.

So installing OS X on OpenDarwin is impossible?

Damn, sure would like something faster than PearPC.

Oh, and Cherry OS is just a hoax...

wiebeest, you don't install an operating system (OSX) on another (OpenDarwin)

OpenDarwin is just the foundation of OSX. apple added to OpenDarwing its proprietary technologies (aqua and so on) to make OSX.

Dang, apperantly that was foolish of me.

I thought darwin --> OS X was something like win9x on top of DOS.
