[help] hills' safarifox installation problems

I'm running into walls here. Months ago i installed 'aquarius2003' 's safari skin for Firfox 0.9.3. It worked fine except the perapplication thingy, which i just figured out today thanx to Duckie's post. Well now i installed Firefox 1.0PR and was having problems with the compact menu not being recognized. After some frustrating searches find my solution on Aqua-soft. Now i have this new problem. Bfr when i had the compact menu, i had that signature apple 'dot' button, that would collapse my menu. But now i have this text that says "Menu" or this other image thingy. Now i dont know if aquarius2003's skin is supposed to change this or not, because i tried that. Or do i have to manually install a image or something, what am i doing wrong here. Am i making things to complicated??

Okay I read Pe8er's post in one of the threads and got Hill's Safarifox instead of Aquarius2003's pixelperfect. I did a fresh install of Firefox 1.0 PR and now i have gotten this far. To further explain my previous post, i've uploaded an image that may better explain what i mean.

1. As you can see the best i can do here is that big ugly text 'menu'. If u see the actual Safari screenshots, its a small dot. I dont know how i achieved it bfr, but i cant achieve it now.

Make sure that you first downloaded this file from hill's site: http://beverlyhills.web.infoseek.co.jp/cgi...ifox/intro.html

Look at readme.hmtl. This file contains modded version of compact menu and some other useful stuff (like fonts modifications).

2. The google search box is rectangular shaped instead of rounded. This may be the result of the 'safarifox' theme by hills, but i dont know. Also can anybody tell me how to replace that google 'G' into the 'Google Search' image of the real Safari.

a) i have this theme too and search bar is round

B) images for search engines are here: program filesmozilla firefoxsearchplugins. I attached sample search image, replace all you have with this one (don't care about the extensions).

3. Here also, the bookmark text isnt the right font or not in Bold. How do i go about doing that?

Download the file I mentioned in 1. It contains everything necessary to mod them.

If you encounter any problems, come back and report them :)

btw. Topic renamed.

The google search box is rectangular shaped instead of rounded. This may be the result of the 'safarifox' theme by hills, but i dont know.

I'm also getting a sharp edged search box and it is a couple of pixels lower than address bar.

I've been using Safarifox mods on every version of Firefox since 0.8 and have never had this problem before. Is there any explanation as to what could be causing it?

EDIT: ps It looks awful, it ruins the whole theme

#223285

Thanks pe8er for all that detailed help. So i was able to fix the tabbed browser extension problems, and it looks pretty sleek now. Check the screenshot to see where i am. Would be very gracious for any info from anyone.

And fannymites, i feel the pain buddy. :(

#223385

nabilanwar, it looks like you might be having the same issue as me with the search box. I've solved mine now, it turns out I was using the latest safarifox mod but I was using the same brushed safari theme I used with firefox 0.9.3.

Downloading the themes again from the spirals site I now get a rounded search bar and also the compact menu automatically changed to the "dimple" (although I preferred the apple compact menu icon I was using before so I've changed it).

#223477

Glad to hear that it works for you, fannymites :) I hope that nabilanwar will succeed too :D

No longer applicable.

Ok, ignore previous thread...

I somehow got it working...finally...

however..one or two glitches remain..

1. Fonts....they're not in Lucida MAC or Grande....as a matter of fact, I can't change it.......this is with all dialogue boxes, task bars, location address bar, menus........ugly courier....

2. Google Icon in the search bar.....where do I get the replacement?

3. When a tab opens and loads a page, the blue thing fills up while it loads, but it's CUT IN HALF.....help....

Anyone......please

Muhehahahhahaha Success!!!

Thanks for that last crucial tip fannymites.

Does anyone know how to change the font of .wba files. I need to change the font of the safari.wba for the perapplication setting. If u see my screenshot, u'll see that the font in the title bar is the only last piece that is left, but i can live without it, but please help if possible.

Veces, dont worry, u'll get thru it.

1. I had the font problem too. I think i fixed it either after the correct installation of browser.jar or the correct installation of the updated theme files in Hills website.

2. Google Icon was posted by Pe8er previously in this very thread.

3. I have that cutting half problem too, i think there is no fix for that. I'm content with it because i just want the basic appearance to look as Safari as possible.

Good Luck on the mod.

I'm just having one last problem and have had this problem with every version of Safarifox.

When using the default Safari theme along with safari.wba Windowblinds theme, I notice that when several tabs are open they don't quite match the toolbars.

What I mean is where there is the "shine" part in the middle of the toolbars, when the tabs are below it it doesn't match up properly.

I don't know if it's to do with my screen resolution (1024x768) but it slightly spoils the whole affect.

I tend to use the "brushed brushed safari" theme with a customized safari.wba but it doesn't have the nice toolbar shine.

#223736

fannymites thats cause the original safari itself doesnt have that shine, its plain brushed. :)

#223884

I've been customizing for quite a bit now and I think I've almost got my shell to my likings, but I'm still encountering a few nagging issues.

Behold:

SCREENSHOT

Any help would be greatly appreciated and if there are any icons, png's or graphics anyone needs created, I'd be glad to make them

Thumby55,

1. Right-click on the toolbars and select customize the drag all the icons and address bar etc up to the blank menu bar then right-click on the toolbars again and uncheck navigation toolbar.

2. I haven't been able to solve this problem but you could turn off the progress bar - via tabbrowser extension preferences.

3. It looks like you are using the default safari theme, if so, the tabs are skinned

but the toolbar background is decided by your visual style/WindowBlinds theme.

If you want a completely white safari theme I would recommend going back to Hill's spirals site and downloading the milk safari theme.

4. I have had this problem with the tabs not always closing on every version of safarifox. It is sometimes solved by trying different versions of tabbrowser extensions or different versions of the tabextension mods.

#224031

Thx man, I'm tryin it all right now.

#224046

Here's the deal:

1) Obviously an easy fix as I previously thought (took me approximately 30 seconds)

2) Yeah this one's killing me as well. I just don't think there's any way to fix this on a consistent basis.

3) After moving the address bar and the back, forward, refresh, etc. upwards and getting rid of the nav. bar, the second problem fixed itself.

4) The button on the left works when I first open firefox, but then after a seemingly random period of time, it ceases to work properly. Thank God for tabextensions mouse-click functions or I'd be really screwed.

#224048

HI,

I'm using firefox 0.9.3 (german) and I also got this rectangle searchbox. I've downloaded the last Safari-skin (and tabextensions etc.) from "Spiral". Any idea how to solve this problem.

Thx

Install Firefox PR 1.0? ;)

Install Firefox PR 1.0? ;)
Very funny, but there is still no german version. Any other ideas?

#224100

Well i would think that the rectangular searchbox would become rounded, if the correct theme file provided by hills back then, is used. The one he made back then was meant to be used with 0.9.3. But if it didnt work to begin with and then u downloaded the latest theme build, then beats me. Well its a pain, but u could try clean installing the whole thing again using the old browser and the old package.

#224302

I've found a german version here

It's not the 1.0PR but a release candidate (1.0RC1) and hills skins work with it.

#224359

i updated to 1.0RC1 and now i can't get the compact menu extension to work. hills skins still work, though.

#224495

got compact menu to work. downloaded the latest version from the homepage.
