Object Bar and Window FX

Hey guys,

I am considering purchasing a lisence for objectbar and window fx...the thing I"m not sure how well they work. I have heard from people that ObjectBar is very slow and that Window FX is pretty much useless.

What I want to do on my computer is:

1.) I want to create an accurate Macintosh shadow under each window and

2.) I want to use a menu that looks like the macintosh bar

Except that I want these to be the least resource intensive possible

If anyone has any suggestions for me I would really appreciate it!

I'm not sure about Objectbar - but WindowFX includes a OSX shadow that is pretty much perfect. Once the transitions are made a little more stable (and someone finally creates a genie effect) it'll be a definite purchase.

FYI, thinking about in the future using ObjectBar's powerful menu system to ObjectDock's advantage... if I can make the two programs work together well, ObjectDock will be able to use ObjectBar to show menus when items on the dock are clicked on. For example, tasks in the dock could be grouped by main program, and when clicked on a menu will come up listing the windows open from that program, etc. In addition, popup menus displaying the contents of folders would be possible, as well as a popup menu that could contain even things such as a system tray or virtual desktops switcher. It would likly need to take advantage of features available only in the registered version, however I think it'd work out very cool and would make ObjectDock into a tool you could actually use as productive taskbar replacement.

What do you think?

Jeff, I think that's a great idea. I also think I'd no longer have an excuse not to buy a liscense for Object Desktop if all that you mentioned gets implemented.

That grouping would be just great - it's the one thing that doesn't look right on the current version as I'll have tons of IE icons lined up

Goku, since I know you have the registered version of ObjectBar, do you find that it is a resource hog? Also do you know if Object Desktop is going to come out with a new version anytime soon?
