[Help] My next comp ?

I am not able to decide what my next computer should be , a pc desktop , or mac notebook,mac desktop. I am electrical enginnering student so thats where the trouble is apart from matlab for os x many of the ece computer programs like pspice ,ansoft and others are not available as student dowloads for the mac.

I do have a fairely new pc laptop with me (3.06 Ghz, soon to be 1 GB memory , 60 GB HDD), so i do have it as a backup computer . I don't play any games (thats really nothing not even solitare) so i m not worrried abt playing games on the mac.

any suugestions . my heart says to get a mac but brain says to not waste money on it and to get a pc.

please help

( I know mac vs pc thread is very common but please i do need some serious suggestions)

If you already have a PC, why does your brain tell you to get another one? I mean, you can use your PC for your electrical engineering stuff if there is no appropriate software for Mac, and use Mac for everything else.

Now, if your laptop can't handle things right (with that power, I seriously doubt it) and you want a desktop to do your school stuff, then get a PC. But if you do your school work in your PC i don't see why you would get another one of those.

if I were you, I would wait another couple of weeks and bring home a new iBook, the iBook will be soon under $1000 yay, but I don't have that much money now still saving for my...powerbook

buy a mac ibook or powerbook.

the extra price you pay will pay you back tenfold saving you from troubles found in windows hardware.

all in all, for me, pay more to save EVEN more.

I agree with that-- your PC laptop will not be outdated any time soon.

as for reaosons why a new computer i have none just one more would be nice to have.

do any of u here use MATLAB a lot cause for some reason it run a bit slowly on my system.
