Aqua-Soft ForumsHey guys, how often do you update your computer? I mean if you mod all the files and you update... some of the modded files go back to regular files. So I was just wondering how often. That's all.

Once a week. And I haven't had any problems.
No schedule for me...
Usually, it depends on how busy I am.
If I have nothing to do, then there is a chance, that I'll go to WinUpdate.
what about all your icons n stuff? How often do you have to change them back to your modded ones?
They rarely ever change. The last time they changed was with SP2, your icons won't chnage updating new security patches and such.
I mostly get the critical updates, unless something else looks good. Aside from the Service Packs, critical updates haven't interfered with my icons.
I update whenenver I decide to wander over and check to see anything is there to update with.
I can recall that sometimes the critical updates have reverted the icons
to the blehhh standard M$ icons. I have auto-update off be default (because in my experience the auto-update always updates whenever it is not wanted).
I update whenever I read it is REALLY neccesary, trusting on my virusscanner/firewall combo in combination with not mindlessly opening every file/e-mail and using Opera instead of M$ Internet explorer.

I have Windows update to auto wonload updates, but not install them, as I like to look over the updates first. When an update has reset my icons, Ive only really had to replace the shell32.dll and explorer.dll, so it doesnt take that long to fix.

using replacer, which is a small drop and drag program, and I only ever replace the files in the windows/system32 folder.
