Program against AveDesk or SysStats

I was thinking about a few utilities and was wondering if I should program against the AveDesk SDK or the SysStats SDK.

I would like to make a flash player (unless one exists) that gives you the ability to play flash movies in a desklet.

Any recommendations/suggestions?

Either way is fine. However, if you could code a general purpose OCX or specialized Flash holder SPL for SysStats, you'll surely have a larger audience than with a single purpose AveDesk desklet. If you can, balance your decision to maximize non-programmers ability to achieve something over reusable building blocks for fellow programmers (if I got the utilities approach right)

Well, there's an app [link], which can convert swf to exe (windowless).

It's great for CDs autoruns etc., but it's not free...

So it would be great, if there will be free alternative...

Good point. I think the the Flash wrapper for SysStats would be probably the most beneficial to anyone this way it can be extended. The SysStats SDK will be where I look.

Sorry to sound dumb but what does SPL mean?

Wouldn't it be possible just to make in general an ActiveX control wrapper and apply Flash to it in this particular instance?

Or, for that matter, a web-browser control?
