Rotation Effect

Spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out how to make the attached gear icons look like they are rotating. I've setup a couple as shortcuts to my docs and my computer..

Well, ended up learning a bit and making a guess about the rotation property. This is my first post here and hopefully it's not something obvious that I'll get flamed for.. I'll attach the icon, which is from http://www.oxygen-inc.com/kenx/ ... so if someone likes it they can use it too..

The zip has the effectlet, just put it along with the bounce and shaker ones in the effects directory.

many props to the writers of Avedesk and plugins, and obviously this would not have been possible without the complete hacking of bounce and shake :)

It works smooth with a low amount of rotation with a mid-low speed, a high amount of rotation needs less speed. Speed is cpu affecting.

Can leave things constantly rotating for those times that you want to impress with an 'alive' desktop, but watch that cpu meter. Just turn off the preference and mouse over and out to turn off the constant-ness of it.

i`m lovin' it! ^_^

LOOKS GREAT [optics]!!!

thanks for writing this cool effect and ur a living proof that post count doesn`t matter, it`s the person that counts ;)

and now how about a smooth magnification effect a-la dock :D

Keep up the good work :)

PS i found out that sometimes it won`t return to the start position on mouse out. It stays rotated :)

thanks for the warm welcome :D

I do have a property in there to make that configurable, did you try that and it still didn't work? You may have to fiddle with it (reset it back once) until I turn them from sliders to dropdowns.

I didn't try it out too much as I mostly didn't like the effect of something circular going back to the original position. I'll take a look as well.

i`ve tested it thoroughly ;)

still the same bug even after fiddling with the effect's settings :(

Updated Version - hopefully whatever bugs were there are gone now (and hopefully I havent introduced any new ones :o ) You may want to save this over the original and restart avedesk. Applying a different effect and reapplying Rotation helps to get things updated too.. (hmm maybe I should have named this something else! :) )
