Hey guys,
I heard that the most recent release of windowblinds (v4.4) is actually buggier than 4.3, in that it does stuff like stretch tabs etc. i'm pretty sure i read that on this forum, but i was wondering if that was true. are there many new features over 4.3 though? is it faster, etc? also, would you recommend that i stick to 4.4 or go with 4.3? the massive amount of great themes here has convinced me to install WB 
I haven't had any problems and 4.4 is a hell of lot faster than 4.3 (which was fast already)
4.4 makes Longhorn/Aero-style shellstyles possible.

Nope, doesn't stretch tabs unless the skin tells it to and margins aren't set correctly.

So I have a question for you guys then... Are my skins working with 4.4? When I installed 4.4 it cause my tabs to stretch out. Are they working for you? 4.3 works fine for me.

haha i knew i heard it on this board... yeah, i guess it was you that was having trouble with WB4.4... are you only having probs with your themes, or are you having problems with ALL themes? anyway, I'll install it, give it a go, install one of your themes, and let you know how it works for me . Any other problems you experienced on WB4.4 or were the tabs it?

In my experience WB uses 500k-1.7mb (I could say 2mb for sake of argument as I have seen others report it). Whereas the themes service which is what you are using when you use "Style XP" uses 4-12mb sometimes more. So if by using more memory makes it better for memory usage then yeah it's better at memory usage. Don't let the "use no resources" checkbox in Style XP fool you you are still using resources to run the themes service. That checkbox could technically say, "don't use any more resources apart from what you already use with the themes service".
So even at it's peak WB uses at least half of what visual styles use. But either way either should not affect you given you have a halfway decent PC (and I have an antique because I'm poor and still it's not bad at all). SO use what you like, but don't put down the other without knowing the facts.

They seem OK on my system, I'll install a few more of your skins to test. (edit, yeah some are, oddly a couple aren't)
The tabs on the skins I have created are all fine, and not sure why yours would be stretching and to be honest you should know far more about it than I, I've only created around 5 complete skins :confused: so I guess your install may be a bit wonky (either SS or WB). (edit - just read the other thread, what was the problem in the end?)

As to the shellstyles, you need to set up 2 XML layout files which define the shellstyle. Very clever, but difficult to use still in SS4.4, you have to do it by hand. The only way I have done it (for RhodiumX) was to import Inspirat MSStyle, have SS create the XML for me, then edit the .xps the UI.xml files by hand. Just have a look through the directory, you'll have something created in no time.
As to richy: Go away until you understand how memory usage for msstyles and windowblinds works.
