[help] Changing Japanese fonts

Hi, I have successfully patched ObjectBar and now, I can display Japanese fonts in ObjectBar. I have even changed the menu entries into Japanese. However, the font looks quite thin. Currently, if I open up the objectbar skin, it says:

Font = ObjectBar

When I change this value from ObjectBar to other fonts (say...Arial), all the Japanese shows up as gibberish. So my question is are there any other Japanese-capable fonts I can use for ObjectBar other than "ObjectBar" that makes the bar look better?

I'm interested in finding a font like this too.

Any help would be great!

Right now, I don't believe there are many (if any?) free Japanese fonts available that will look better than the default one Windows is using (http://screenshots.haque.net/screenshots/v...nshot-21275.png). What I've thought to do was to actually extract the Japanese fonts from OSX (I believe it comes with Osaka and various versions of Hiragino), convert them and use them for Windows.

As a sidenote, it appears after some research that ObjectBar can only use truetype fonts, and since the Hiragino fonts appear to be OTF fonts and Osaka is dfonts, you'll need to run them through a program such as fontforge to convert them from OTF/dfont to TTF. I haven't tried converting them yet although OTF fonts work out-of-the-box under Windows applications such as Word (but apparently not ObjectBar).

http://free-st.htnet.hr/crni/ the font at the top of this page is what I'm using at the moment. (OBfont) While it works great with English applications, my OS is Windows XP Japanese version so the local applications are all gibberish. I'm not too up-to-date on how font files work these days. Esp with international fonts.

I wouldn't know where to start to fix this problem.

dial81, it seems your problem is that your ObjectBar refuses to display Japanese, period. I don't know about the linking policy of AquaSoft so I've PMed you the website containing the patch. You basically run the patch in your ObjectBar directory and it patches all of your ObjectBar skins to enable Japanese to display in them. After that, you have to go manually change all the text in each of the ObjectBar skins to Japanese.

Yeah, actually the thing is I already have Japanese fonts displaying correctly in ObjectBar. The problem is I want better-looking fonts that are compatible with ObjectBar and I was wondering if anybody knew of any.

Yeah, before I couldn't even get the Japanese fonts working... but now they are. Thanks for the pm.

However, it is true that they are quite big and ugly. Wonder if it's possible to make the default mac Japanese fonts work with objectbar. I know the PC-2-MAC look is popular in Japan. I wonder what do they do to pretty it up? Or what is possible for us to do?

PS - In addition to this. The common shortcuts are all ... and $-_ etc
