When setting the Drive desklet to be connect to a USB HD the desklet is not hidden when the drive is dismounted!
Any ideas?

Strange behaviour. In my computer, the USD drives are not shown either the pen drive is pluged in the USB port.

Nope you are right it was only when I made the desklets they were shown!
Now they don't show at all it seems the Drive desklet doesn't work well with USB drives!

My USB flash drive works properly, but my Ipod does not. When I plug it in the drive info doesn't update, and when i unplug it doesn't disappear. I turned off the hide function, and to get the desklet to pick up the info I just go into the properties and change drive letters to something different ad then back to the Ipod and it updates the info. I DO have my ipod set as "removable storage device" too, so it's definitely an issue with the desklet.
Even though the desklet doesn't update the info, it IS functional (i can open it, eject, etc etc).
Yeah... I have an external hard drive and if Windows+Avedesk is up and running and *then* I plug my external drive in, the desklet won't show up. The drive has to plugged in and running before Avedesk is launched for it to show up... but then if I disconnect the drive, the desklet won't disappear on its own.
As far as I recall this "hide when not mounted" stuff was intended at CD-ROM drives only. The system sends a media-arrival message (if auto-insert-notification is enabled) for each CD stuck in.
An USB thumb drive, network share or FireWire mount is another piece of bread.

I'm assuming this has to do with the issue you said Herd. But then again, the folder and other drive information updates correctly, why wouldn't a removable drive update as well?
i can't offer any help, but i can verify that running avedesk with an external USB HD and the mountchecker desklet (at that time i used the now-defunct powdermount checker) works for some people just fine. it appeared and disappeared correctly on my comp. there should be a solution for you.

Yes perhaps the powdermount checker may work, but the Ave one doesn't. 
I'll see if I can dig up my copy of Powdermount to try.

Possibly because of your Tweak-UI settings. This thing needs Auto-Insert-Notification to be on and uses some undocumented windows feature to subscribe to this notifications from the system instead of manually checking at intervals...
