[question] why cannot change the .pdf icon?

i used reshacker to change the default .pdf icon|changed acrord32.exe / icongroup/ 2.

safe mode/ repair icons/ blah, nothing seems to apply| the default one applies.

Have you been lucky with this one guys?

Have you tried changing the filetype icon?

Control Panel--> Folder Options-->File Types-->PDF-->Advanced--> Change icon.

Let me know if that works.

perhaps you should rebuild your cache icon

@nightcrawler: that worked mate| the path for the .ico was:

C:WINDOWSInstaller{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A00000000001}PDFFile.ico

hard one to guess.

You can use this feature to change the icon of any filetype- you can even supply your own. I find it quite useful. Glad I could be of service

P.S: You could find a 128*128 version of the pdf icon, and use that, if you want.
