I want to add a shadow to my taskbar. I use WindowFX for my shadows, but unfortunately it doesn't shadow the taskbar. I know YzShadow can shadow the taskbar, but I don't like YzShadow because it's software emulated and runs bad on my computer. So how are you guys adding shadows to your taskbars? Are you using some program, or are you just adding a shadow to the wallpaper via photoshop?
I add a shadow to my wallpaper. When I used to change my wallpaper often, I used Samurize to stretch a ping image across the screen.
i don't shadow my taskbar, but if i were going to, i'd go with a wallpaper mod. it looks just as good, and doesn't require resources. plus, you won't have to worry about conflicts or buggy programs.
I used to do the wallpaper thing, but I don't want to have to do that everytime I want to change my wallpaper... :slant:

Try this program called AddShadow. It will force WindowFX to add a shadow to the taskbar, iTunes and Windows Media Player (skin mode)
You can edit the INI file and add a Window class to basically force WindowFX to add a shadow to whatever you like. You can place a shortcut to AddShadow into your Startup folder so it will automatically shadow the above mentioned apps when you login to Windows.

dreams in digital, could you save the shadow as a layer or style and just apply it whenever you change the wallpaper? that might work and save you time.
Yeah, i do not shadow my taskbar, but i use YZ Shadow for the shadows of the windows.
I made a shadow in Photoshop and I used that image in AveDesk and stretched it horizontally.

WindowFX 'does' shadow the taskbar. You just turn the option on under the Shadow prefs.

This is how I did it. Use the attached image and create a new desklet (a regular shortcut)
Change the icon (image) and change it to the shadow image.
Don't make a caption name, make 0 as the X position, and y like...20 or 15, or whatever, depending on the VS, change the height to 20 or 15 (your personal preference), lock the position, change the alpha channel to your personal preference, choose "always on bottom" with no effect.
Go to the advanced tab and check "ignore right click" "ignore left click" and "click through", and you should be okay!

I never understood why payware WinFx doesn't
shadow the taskbar, while Y'z shadow did.

I just use WindowFX to add shadows because it not only shadows objectbar but it's menus. And you don't need addshadow to do that, you only need it to add shadows to programs like QCD or iTunes. That is until they add the feature into windowFX to force a window to have a shadow that doesn't. To adress how much memory WindowFX uses it's not just a shadowing program like Y'z it has lots of other features so of course it's going to use more. But I like it more because of what I said above and also I can make skinned shadows specific for my themes. Before either I used to do the wallpaper thing but now I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore, especially when I want to share a walllpaper and I forget where it was from. But it's using 2.2mb on my system and I have 512mb so I have no problem with that.
