[help] Dialogs ...

Hello all...

I've been messing with my dialogs again for oh, i don't know, the millionth time, and I've been using the Apple Human Interface Guidlines for comparison.

The problem is, even though I'm using the pixel ratios just as they show, my dialogs are clearly different.

How is this possible, pixel l x w shouldn't be different on the two platforms, should it?

Anyway, my question is has anybody developed before or at least lists a perfect conversion for the numbers??? aka what 12 pixels in a dialog on a mac equals ?? many pixels on windows dialogs. This is confusing me to no end. If I just had the numbers, this would be a whole lot easier.

If it helps, I am using OBFont size 10 and all pushbuttons are 11 pixels high.

Thanx.

Sorry to puncture your bubble, but on Microsoft Windows, dialogs aren't measured by pixels, but by dialog units. These units vary depending of the DPI of your display (possibly different in X- and Y- axis, if a pixel isn't exactly squared) so that they would grow and shrink if you tweak your settings.

Short: You can't have the numbers. These would be machine, resolution or X-Files dependant.

damn...

thanx though, what about just a rule of thumb to follow to visually pick out the right size?

Surely the only rule of thumb anyone can offer is to somehow make a window transparent, and then put this over the Mac equivalent, then play with the settings?
