i noticed this on some old crappy speakers i had and on the jbl creature ii speakers. occasionally i'll hear some buzzing, like zzz...zzzzz...zzz..maybe like interference, though there's nothing nearby.
i'm using soundstorm on my abit nf7-s. doesn't seem like anything is messed up.

i have the same problem. however, i have no method of fixing it. i use altec lansing 2100 you know. i think that at some frequencies it can't produce that sound effectively enough. it's not all smooth.
i went and disabled everything i didn't need in the sound panel, and i reduced all of the outputs in nvmixer to about half, and let the speakers do the work. the sound is clearer, but then again, the issue has always been intermittent, so i don't know if it's fixed.
have you treyed them with a cs-player or other player?
every on-board-soundcard produces some kind of a white noise.
hehe, my speakers do the same thing when my cell phone goes off. same as the speakers on my 19inch tv. maybe that is el problemo.

yeah, which is why i put my cell far, far away.
i'm going to tweak my mixer even more and see if that helps.
well i know that when my computer starts up, my speakers make a loud horrible BUZZ and it drives me crazy!
i'm not sure why you get that problem pops. you could keep your speakers off, then turn them on once windows loads.
i need to do some more tests.
I think that's just the downside of using onboard sound. I'm not sure how good SoundStorm is, but when I used to use onboard with some old crappy speakers, I noticed some weird noises also. Like I would hear some low humming whenever I would scroll my mouse wheel. I think the only way to fix that stuff is to get a real sound card. After I got a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS with some new Logitech speakers, all those weird sounds went away. My cell phone also causes interference with my speakers, but I think nearly all speakers do that.

ALL speaker do, and you're right, the only way to fix buzzing which comes from your soundcard is to buy a better one / stop useing a on-board one.
(sometimes putting the boxes a bit away from a CRT helps also)
Well, the problem could also be a bad amplifer, but I'm not shure if this kind of speakers you got do have an external one.

thanks, guys. i didn't really have this problem before, but maybe it's just the interference and onboard sound. soundstorm was touted as an a2 rival, and it's actually not that bad.
oh well, i guess there's nothing i can do about it short of buying an actual soundcard. 
i use a laptop most of the time (hardly leave my bed any more) and my sub gives off a horrible low pitch humming sound, does my head in at night.
Make sure everything is properly grounded, that might help 
My speakers always Make a loud ERZZZZZ or something like that when windows starts, and it scares the ****ens out of me every time. I don't know why though. It does it with all of my speakers
its normal for them to do that. I thought my altec lansing speakers were damaged so I bought some new ones and it wasn't long before I heard the buzzing sound. I know how annoying it can be.
well it's probably some interference with other electronics. i tried wrapping my cables in foil (it's better than nothing), but i didn't help that much. oh well.
i have a theory. maybe the soundcard or computer or player produces "silent" sound, sound that aren't really supposed to be played. this "sound" can affect the speakers in two ways. either produce them as interference/white noise/static and not stressing the speakers, or having the sounds make the speakers screech because it wasen't designed for that "sound" it's like forcing a riva tnt2 play half-life 2 at highest settings. the comptuer gets all weird. and so will the speakers. but it's not a feature, but a problem.
