There are a couple 1st generation ipods on ebay...for a good price, I heard it doesn't work on Windows, is there a patch or anything you know of to make it to work if thats the correct answer. Otherwise, I won't buy it since I don't have a apple computer.

and yes, 1st gen iPod will work fine with XP and iTunes as ur syncing program 
PS if it's formated for a Mac (and i`m guessing it is) u`ll have to get an updated firmware from apple (i think they unified all firmwares in one for all gens) and reformat iPod's drive for windows (FAT32)
Oh ok, simple enough. Thanks and yes that was my fault on the smiley, I was clicking it in a hurry...oh no!!! 
1st gen supports only firewire, not USB. If you don't have it on your PC, add a PCI-card to your shopping trolley. Should come cheap.
