Guys, I know this sounds like an odd request, but how can I make Firefox as much like IE as possible? My mom's IE on her computer is shot full of more holes than normal and well I'm afraid it will take her forever to learn a new interface. How can I mod firefox to make it as much like IE as possible? (Minus the popups
) And I guess this belongs on this board...
Making Firefox 1.0 As Much Like Ie As Possible
Yep, can be done quite effectively actually.
There're a couple of sources for "Internet Explorer" themes, one of which I found to be located at http://pages.prodigy.net/zzxc/ieskin/. You'd need to test to see if that works in 0.10+
Second: You can change the application icon to an IE icon (or any other icon, of course) by following the instructions found here: http://texturizer.net/firefox/tips.html#app_icon
Third: If you're getting really desperate, you could install the FireSomething extension which, with a minimum of configuration will let you change the name to "Microsoft Internet Explorer" (or Mozilla SteveMonkey... whatever floats your boat).
Then just remove IE from the desktop, add a Firefox icon (swap it for the IE icon) and, with a bit of luck, that'll do it.
You'll want to keep extensions to a reasonable minimum, since you don't want to go overkill, though it could be worth installing something like "Spellbound", which adds spell checking to text areas and would make a nice addition that could coax your poor mother into exploring the software a bit!
Hope that helps,
Ben
One extra note: You can choose "Old style" or "XP Style" buttons for that skin by toggle "Use Small Icons" in the button customisation dialogue (just installed it to test, it works fine in 0.10PR+).

Just because I work with you, doesn't mean you shouldn't use the edit button, Shovel ![]()
