[req] Herd, Why Can't We Choose Icon From .dll?

if you know FlyakiteSP1 v6.0.exe or other SystemMods, you would understand the problem. Some Icon resources are really cool after modded so DeskLets should allow showing up default icons too! Its not fair when we can't choose icon from shell32.dll or an EXE file! :cry: Those guys really worked hard!

BUT about all this :woot: I can't ignore your creations! awesome! I'm sure this will be fixed in future :staffs here: !

WTF are you talking about? Dude u need to chill out, reduce the number of smilies and choose apropriate forum and THEN think of requesting something from a developer.

I`m NOT sure it will be fixed in the future with such an attitude.

And if you want to use the icons from exes/dlls, get IconWorkshop and export the icons/pngs from the files. ResHacker does that also.

I think I can decipher what oxtie wants:

You can assign a windows shortcut a different icon.

This icon can reside inside some DLL like moricons.dll etc. The shell even has a reusable browse dialog to select icons that are located inside the resources part of those executables and he wants standard or shortcut desklets to be extended to these.

Storage would be both named and indexed e.g. "c:\windows\moricons.dll,22" in the theme.ini hence the same mechanisms as in the shell icon cache could be employed.

Reasonable request, apart from the hysterics, should come with V. 1.2 but don't hold your breath.

Anyways, Herd, you got it all right! and I really don't find this hard to implement. As we all have seen, Standard icons in the .DLL .EXE .CPL .XYZ are modified frequently by plenty of people in here. All I ask is to use even their creations to make Our system look COOL
