Giant Icons In Kde

I am using KDE 3.0 and am wondering how to get my desktop icons bigger than 64x64. Any ideas?

well in the kde control panel under look n feel-> icons.. there should be a drop down to change Pixels of the icons.. unless the theme your using does not have 128x icons avaible to use.. you cant switch then.

Would you mind giving a couple of hints for how its put together.

Also, does anyone know how i might get bigger than 48px icons in the KDE panel?

I'm running Mandrake 9.0 with KDE 3.0.X i think

Hints are not a problem. However... Getting it exacly how I got mine is a bit daunting...

I would give you my icon theme which is the main reason that my screenshot looks good, but I don't have permission from the author. However, you can make your own.

i got the icons from Cmove here is his link (if it still works) http://eciolfi.free.fr/snow.E2/Snow.E2PNGs.zip

Go to /usr/share/icons and select an icon pack (folder) and then study the names of the files and the file sizes then make a new folder with a new name. Place your icons (edited to sizes 128x128, 96x96, 64x64, 48x48, 32x32, 22x22, 16x16) PM me and I will send you a modified index.desktop file so you can use the bigger sizes.

You asked earlier how to change the icon size >>settings>>look and feel>>icons>>advanced

can edit it to get smaller)

My icon pack doesn't only consist of the Snow icons from Cmove, they are also based on a pack called aqua from kde-look.org. You could actually use that as your base icon pack as well, just learn how to edit the index.desktop file.

The theme I use is called silverXaqua from kde-look.org. Although I sometimes use "sortofaqua" IceWM with "Acqua" theme. They are both available from KdeLook and are both easy to install. (install.sh)

i think in the advanced bit of the icons control centre there was only the option to have size 48px icons in the drop down menu

If this is defined by the index.desktop file i'm a little confused because the index came with the icons i use which all have 128px icons. I think i'll just have to do a bit of tinkering.

Also what browser/theme are you using there?

Phoenix w/ Lynchknot's Safari theme.

It may be hard, but you have more control of what happens than in Windows, so in a lot of ways you can do some really awesome stuff.
