How To Get Ss To Work With Qcd

First I must thank Grusic, for his insight to use SS and QCD or any other appz he want to control. This is not the be all end all of how to use SS, but just how to make QCD work. After this you should get a understanding of how to apply other things you want to control.

First get the Konfabulator remote png from Deskmod and of course SS.

Open the Config and chose the layout that you want, by layout I mean how you want the QCD remote and info section...like what Grusic has. After this you go to "Edit meter" add "text," Click on "allow meter linkage," where it says "The text of your choice" erase that and set the "Alpha Blending to zero (0).

Go to "Link Properties, Link Meter To." and type in C:\the director where you have QCD...in mine I have it in C:\QCD 3\qcdplayer.exe. Now put a space after the "qcdplayer.exe" and put /play for play, /stop for stop /pause for pause etc.. then save it, open the ini file and there you have it.

Also the config must be set to "Always On Top" or "Normal Window Behaviour" in order for the meter linking to work properly.

For the infomormation to be display you must have Now playing, I think Flyakite wrote a great article on how to do this, search for it and you will be all set. In order to find out the function just look into the help section for them.So in order to link other Appz just find out their function(s) and you should be ok.

Have fun...

What is "Now Playing" ? Is that a seperate program or a plug-in for QCD? If you have more info on how to get the display to work with the remote, please share. thanks.

go to Samurize forum and there is a instruction on how to use Now playing, also go to QCD website and you will find the "Now playing 2.0" program. I don't think that I will do justice in explaining it.

Thanks for sharing this Andy. According to what you have instructed I should have this:

C:\program files\QCD 3\qcdplayer.exe /play for play, /stop for stop /pause for pause

Question: Why is there a comma after play?

How is each button programmed to perform a specific function?

whould you mind providing a url to instuctions for now playing. I performed a search of the forum and "now playing" returned 9 pages - none of them titled specifically.

"lynchknot" there should not be any comma after /play.

For each functions you have to do a meter link for each and place the blank area over the area you want to control. Eg. if you want to control play, then add text and click meter linkage and then use C:\program files\QCD 3\qcdplayer.exe /play after that then place that area over the play button, save and test, by dbl clicking the play button. Use the same method for pause etc.

For the Now playing, Flyakite did a tutorial before the last time the forum went down.

I will try and tell you what to do.

After you D/L Now playing 2.0 go to the plugin section of QCd and you will see the Now playing folder. Create 2 .txt file and named it "NowPlayingTepl" another "Stopped_Tepl" without quote,

Album:

Artist:

Track:

Time Remaining:

Next: -

paste these into the 2 files you created.

There will be 2 files with that name already, so you can rename the ones that are ther or just rename. Start QCD and go to the plugin, general section where you will see now playing, highlight it and click customize.

Click on "Real time exporting" change the first 2 options to the new files you have created.

Then go thru the other option and uncheck what you don't want to see.

Again if you can find the Flyakite post it will clearer.

Thanks andy, i'm going to try it out now.

Oh, so it's not:

C:\program files\QCD 3\qcdplayer.exe /play for play, /stop for stop /pause for pause

but it's:

C:\program files\QCD 3\qcdplayer.exe /play

C:\program files\QCD 3\qcdplayer.exe /stop

C:\program files\QCD 3\qcdplayer.exe /pause
