Aqua-Soft ForumsI would really like to see someone develop a desklet that allows you to display an animated GIF file on the desktop. I have (as I am sure all of you do) some great animated GIFs I would love to add to my desktop for that all important eye-candy. Any of you desklet experts out there think this is possible?

It has already been done.
There is an ObjectDock animated shortcut docklet around that works also perfectly under AveDesk. http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=29&SkinID=2074
However it doesn't display animated gifs, it animates stripes. You'll have to extract each frame using a tool like irfanView, put them into a single bitmap and there you go. Just see the globe.png and the rest.

I guess I could use that. I was hoping there would be something where you could use the GIF files natively without breaking them down. Thanks for your input.
Never thought I'd see the day but for that very purpose, hey, why not go and try DesktopX!
