Morphing Wallpaper...

Just wondering if there were any programs or active desktop apps that may recreate the way that the desktop on mac's morph. I was just using a mac at CompUSA and noticed how the background changes colors and shapes. Is there anything out there like that for XP?

I know there are java applets that do a hue rot, try www.javaboutique.com. If you can hue rot an image and put the applet's webpage on your desktop then it could do some nifty color changing. I can't tell you how to make them morph, though, unless you want to do a really elaborate animation.. I think hue rot might work nicely, though.

It seems that in recent versions, IE lost it's java virtual machine...

Perhaps I should formulate a tutorial on this...

You can place any Flash animation in an Html page and use it as a wallpaper on your desktop.

Keep in mind that Html background result to the loss of the transparency of icon labels on the desktop, and the transparency of dock background, if you use one.

I got the hue rotation to work, but it looked like heck on the desktop. Funny that it's so hard to do something so simple in this modern technological age..

this is not the exact same thing, but somewhat close... it's from the guy who does the great winamp plugin named "Geiss"... this ine is for your desktop and it's called "drempels"... se if it's what you need...

There was once, aloooong time ago, a tiny (few tens of kb) linux app that took a filename, x speed and y speed as parameters and then scrolled smoothly a wallpaper on your root window...

Not quite what you're looking for (fading) but it looked really cool with some wallpapers...

Can't remember what the app's name was, though...

Also, you can swallow (mostly) any screensaver into xwindows root, so if you had something similar to Nostalgic screensaver, you could make it run as a wallpaper and get something similar to what you're aiming at...

Unfortunately, i've never found anything as flexible for windows (drempels is ok, but takes a lot of cpu time, is a bit buggy and isn't quite IT)...

Drempels doesn't allow you to use a screensaver, only its images. Furthermore you lose desktop icon transperancy with it.
