Display Properties Will Not Open Please Help

ok I just did a fresh install and loaded all the windows updates including sp2, nothing strange there done this a few times..

Now when I right click the desktop and click properties I get a hourglass for like 3 secs then nothing..

If I go to control panel, display properties it does the same thing..

I have updated all drivers and still nothing works..

I have googled everything and can not find a answer..

Please help im in 640x480 :cry: :cry: :cry:

Try ending all processes except for system ones. It might be some program preventing you from opening, like several viruses prevent you from opening Task Manager.

Also, try opening it via this shortcut entered in the Run panel:

Start Menu--> Run--> control desk.cpl

Or, double click on the file:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\desk.cpl

Other than that, I'm not exactly sure...

If you have ATI catalyst, it has its own process is the taskbar where you can change resolutions on the fly and change other options. Not sure for Nvidia though.
