[release] Search Aqua-soft From Firefox/safari

How many of you have been admonished by Seph, or one of the other mods: "Search the forums before you post, you crazy idiot!" Ok, maybe they only talks to me like that, but the idea's still the same- you guys don't search Aqua-Soft. With that in mind, and the fact that most of you hate Internet Explorer, and thus, have Firefox, I've made a plugin that lets you search Aqua-soft from the Firefox search bar.

A little tip: Press Ctrl + K to switch focus to that search bar.

Instructions on how to install the plugin, and necessary files here:

P.S: Those of you not on Firefox are most likely on Safari. If you want instructions on how to search Aqua-Soft from Safari using this plugin, PM or email Seph.

Awesome!!! You know i love this :D

People should really use this it is extremely easy, you would also avoid double threads and stuff heheh...

Using it on safari :woot:

Thank you Nightcrawler

Great, thank you nightcrawler (he's one of my fav x-men) :)

#213348

I'd like to see somebody mod it for Aero-Soft. Being a News Poster over there, that would be a handy feature.

#213358

Thanks guys! I didn't know anyone else here on the board was interested in X-men...good to know, aashish113.

@liquidplasmaflow- haha, I discussed this with Seph. If you can get another person to say they want it for Aero-Soft, I'll make it for you (preferably another Newsposter, but I guess I'll settle for anybody... :D ).

That way, it won't be some cheap imitiation...you're getting the real Rolex! :D

I'm glad you like it!

P.S: In my opinion, it's better to search just the titles if you're trying to find something- therefore, use the aqua-soft_user plugin, which is set to search the titles by default, although you can change it if you want.

Great addition to the best browser ever made, thanks a lot ^_^

#213365

Link is dead?

#213617

Great Idea !

Link works fine for me....

#213622

/me loves it and recommends it with use of firefox.

#213646

Thanks guys!

@juno- Try the link again. I think it goes up and down, although I'm not sure why. Blame seph, he's hosting it :D .

#213648

I want it for aero-soft.com :)

#213691

Sigh...done. Give me a day or two. However, I don't think Seph should have to host this one: is it okay if Aero-Soft itself hosts it?

Deadzombie, if you or another mod has AIM, we can chat about it.

:woot: I've been waiting for this soo long!

#213822

Hy.

Any chance to make this plugin work under Opera 7 ?

Thanx in advance.

#214050

Well, it's built into Firefox in fact. (I think it could be useful meanwhile the Aero-Soft search plugin is not created)

Smart Keywords

Say you search on a lot of different things - corporate phonebook, imdb, etc... wouldn't it be handy to have convenient aliases to all these searches? You bet it would be.

  1. Go to the page that has the search box on it, right click on it and choose "Add a Keyword for this Search..."

  2. In the "Add Bookmark" dialog that appears enter a name and a short "keyword" and save the Bookmark...

Now you can type "kw search string" in the URL, e.g. "pb Janet Robinson" for a quick phonebook lookup. I can't live without my keywords. Oh, and it handles POST forms too, unlike most other browsers!

That actually describes Firefox PR 1.0, which just came out (and looks great!). Mine works with all previous versions.

@cyberwolf, and about Opera- suranpu is right, the search feature my plugin uses is built into Firefox. I could take a look at Opera and see if I can get it to work, but I'm not sure how much demand there is for an opera plugin...

Well, A-S switching from IPB to vBulletin has effectively invalidated my plugin.

And I'm REALLY busy within the next few weeks, so, although I think I'd be abke to mod the plugin, I won't be able to for a while.

Sorry guys :slant: :) .

:( I was wondering why it had stopped working.

Hope you can get it fixed sometime :)

#232967

error 404 =(

#232989

Well maoos, it looks like Seph has taken the files off his server. Doesn't matter anyway because the plugin no longer works. Due to the forums change (IPB to vBulletin), the references, and maybe even the attributes, are no longer correct.

Although I could fix this (maybe...I haven't looked too closely), I'm extremely busy at the moment. Maybe if I get a spare moment or two...

Well, at least I know people still used this!
