OK, recently there has been something up with the sound when I play a DVD in my DVD drive. The video part is fine, but the sound sounds like it's skipping, or slowing down and then speeding up for about 1/3 of a second. Anyone know what the problem could be?
Problems With Dvd Sound
two things to try, based on experiences i read about:
--turn off any spyware guard, this can eat up processor time taking it away from the audio decoding.
--enable DMA mode for the drive... to do this:
1. Open Device Manager.
2. Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers and channels.
3. Right-click the icon for the channel to which the device is connected, select Properties, and then click the Advanced Settings tab.
4. In the Current Transfer Mode drop-down box, select DMA if Available if the current setting is "PIO Only."
If the drop-down box already shows "DMA if Available" but the current transfer mode is PIO, then the user must toggle the settings. That is:
• Change the selection from "DMA if available" to PIO only, and click OK.
• Then repeat the steps above to change the selection to DMA if Available.
--if those don't work, try uninstalling the driver for that drive and reboot. let it reinstall the driver itself (found new hardware, etc.) then reboot again.
Wooooo, thanks Wookie; that seems to have solved it ![]()
