umm. so i can be informed next time. what do you mean by adding titles? i tagged my thread. did i miss something?
ya i was thinking that you couldn't remove it because its a mounted item. but i thought i saw somewhere [ diff site ] that someone had removed it. if not, no biggy, i would just like a clean desktop.

Finder > Preferences > Uncheck the "Hard disks" on the 'Show these items on the Desktop.'
Of course you'll have to add a shortcut or something to the dock.. If you want an icon-free desktop you could just download DeskShade Plus.
