Can An Isight Run On Windows Pc
Yes i t can, i believe Stevie had one running (actually has one now) on his PC.
You can google for this, you know?
As Seph mentioned, I have an iSight running on my Windows PC.
It's possibly the best webcam I've ever used, and well worth the money.
On the downside, though, you can't use the built-in microphone, and you'll have an "unrecognized" device sat in your device manager until someone makes a proper iSight audio driver.
That said, everything else about the camera works just fine (on standard, 6 pin firewire ports, at least). I have, however, heard tell of people having earthing and vertical synching issues (among others) when using a 4 pin firewire socket with a 4-6 pin converter (even powered converters).
Also, it's of note that the default brightness is too low, when using it on a Windows PC - this, I would imagine, all relates to the differeces in the default gamma levels from the operating systems, rather than an issue with the hardware.
Furthermore, you can't update iSight firmware without a Mac...
If you have any issues, feel free to post here, and I'll help if I can ![]()
For what it's worth, anyone got any idea of some good "introductions" to writing Windows hardware drivers? I'm getting keen on having a fully working iSight, see ![]()
thanks very much and I have another question: can an isight work with all IM software ex:AIM, MSN, Yahoo... or only work with some of them, someone tell me it doesn't work with AIM 5.5.
I'm not 100% on how compatible it is overall, but I've had it working flawlessly on MSN Messenger 6, Yahoo Messenger (can't remember what version), and Trillian (via Yahoo/AIM).
I would imagine it works with AIM, as iChat uses AIM, but I haven't tested it myself (as I refuse to install AIM or Yahoo Messenger on my machine since Trillian stole my heart
)
