Themexp.org Bundles Spyware With Their Themes

Themexp.org was once a great site for downloading msstyles and other things, but recently they started putting the downloads in exe files that will also install spyware, useless crap such as IE toolbars, and other dirty little things. Just warning those who didn't already know about this.

In order to keep our costs down, some of the files on this site have been wrapped with advertisements. This has nothing to do with the theme authors and they are not making any money because of it. It is simply a way for us to pay for bandwidth and servers to keep this site going. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at support@themexp.org or call us at: (480) 503-8338. We are open 8AM to 5PM Arizona Standard Time.

as for an alternative site deviantart seems to have a reasonable theme collection

I've been doing that ever since...erm...yea.

edit: And I don't mean boycotting... :canadian:

Well, at least Timan hasn't started putting spyware on the boards. I like his approach better (the Google Ads.)

>_<, themexp sucks, i went there once, but theres way too many crappy skins, its hard to find one decent one thats not jaggy and looks sharp at the same time.

I've never found a skin there that caught my eye. I haven't been there for like a year. If no one goes there then they won't be at a loss of money to pay for the overwhelming amount of bandwidth being used.

I like ThemeXP for one reason, they got me my domain and hosting for free. I like them...only for that. The themes suck. Even the one I made.

That was the first place that I was introduced to an aqua theme. It is too bad they have gone downhill.

I agree. They used to be really nice. But I do understand their decision. Sites arent cheap.

I've only see one decent skin on there which is minimal, NXPro VS but even then i haven't turned back since i noticed that they've been adding the fugly spyware to the artists submissions... if anything i think that the artists should be getting that money not the website. It's only fair in the fact that it's the artists work and themexp.org is making something in order for them to stay online...

just a thought

If you want to boycott Themexp, please do, do whatever you want, just dont come in here to recruit people to do so too. One thing is to warn, the other thing is to recruit.

This is Aqua-Soft, not Army-Soft.
