Hp's Ipod

This just did not make any sense to me. Copyrights? What is the difference between these two products (the apple and HP pods)? This is just really damn confusing. Anyone have an idea what is going on? Did apple make a deal with HP because they can sell their products at more places or something?:blink::blink::blink::blink::blink:

didnt apple learn anything from the mac clone erra >.-_-

Yes, Apple did grant HP exclusive rights to market the ipod under the HP name. In essence, its the same ipod with different coloring and logos. I don't know why they did this, but it's probably to further dominate the mp3 player market by having one of the largest PC makers in the world market their player. If HP starts marketing the rebranded iPod with all their HP desktops/laptops then more will be sold, therefore more profits for appple. I read on CNET a couple months ago that it will costs a little bit less than the apple version, but I've seen previews (go to CNET.com and do a search, theres a vid out there with a prototype) of it and it looks fugly imo.

The two pods are *exactly* the same. The hPod has temporary stickers on it. You can change them at will. The deal with Apple is a good thing though.

With this agreement, HP will have iTunes preinstalled on every HP machine produced, complete with an icon on the desktop. Thats going to seriously help Apple grow the iTunes/iPod market.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! This is absolutly the stupidest thing

apple has ever done. I think we should all go and protest  :brucelee:

Exactly, that was what I was thinking. Thousands, if not millions of people have HP machines, and many more will buy them. Hell, I'm typing this from an HP right now. Havine all those people using iTunes, and giving them the option to get an iPod at the same time as they buy the machine is a good marketing idea :)

Obviously all your "I Hate HP and i love Mac" opinions are based on marketing/business fundaments and i am sure you would like to tell apple all about it

Trust me, if they are doing this is cause it is ultimately good for business. They have qualified people doing this; the same people that made you jump out of a window for apple in any forum on the internet ;)

This make me really really angry!!!  Why is Apple so stupid to invite HP to sell another iPod Family? Can't believe that, because I think Apple's iPod Family is the best MP3-Player generation which exist in the world. What do you think about that? I mean, look just to the navigation. I've got a bit experience about MP3-Players. I had an Sharp-MT 90, an iRiver IHP 120 and now I've got the 4Gen iPod 20GB. I know what it means, that a navigation is "disadvantageously" or something like that. Look to the design. I think Apple gives itself very much trouble with the design. And that's the difference between Apple and other "MP3-Player-companies". (ok, they think they do that too, but the poeple loves the design of Apple, I think more than other ones...)

Think about that and tell me, why Apple did this. >.<

Thanks,

err.. contro I remember a year ago where you said iPod is crap and apple is always to expensive - now you have an iPod yourself and are an aquaholic.

to the Design: Not all people like the design, IMHO the Design-question is very personal (ino, right in here this sentence could kill me ;))(let me life)

(/me likes my iPod and its design)

Apple did good to allow HP to sell the iPod - It would help to let the musicstore grow and the whole company - maybe they will also lower the prices (like they did with the iPod) (Damn, why was mine so expensive).

So I totally agree with Ludge.

Hm, can't remember that -_-

Interesting...no Apple branding at all? :( Who wants an iPod if it doesn't have the Apple logo on it  Hm...good for the companies, but bad for the customers? They say it will be white and silver, but this picture of Fiona here has it as a blue iPod. Ew.

I went to go tell my brother, and he was watching tv, and coincidentally, I just saw a commercial on it on tv...

it seems that HPs iPod is the exact same as Apple's, just with different branding.. the cost is the same, features the same and what not.. as far as colors, i believe i saw on gizmodo, that hp will have skins for the ipod, while the ipod will remain with it's white color.

#209229

ok... well HP and iPod... very few can see the business relationship that some have already pointed out. Being that the iPod is the best thing since sliced bread in terms of digital music players, there are lots of reasons as to why it's better for apple to do so. As pointed out already that HP is one of the bigger pc manufacturers in the world, why not use them to your marketing scheme. Their portfolio speaks for themselves, sure i hate HP with a passion because their machines i hate repairing, but for Apple it shows that they're willing to step over the boundary that MS has set. Apple owns the market in the digital music area... MS sucks at it... so why not... only makes sense from a business POV.

People are either suffering from a very weird case of colour-blindness, or are just a little dim...

Try looking at HP's site - it's the same damn' iPod. Also, if you look at press releases, you'll see it's not being branded as an HP iPod, it's an Apple iPod, being sold by HP, through their retailers and channels. Oh, and the accessories look incredibly familiar, too... Where've I seen those before..? Oh, on Apple's site.

Apple iPod on HP's site

And, if I'm not mistaken, it's the same kit in the box, for the same price.

#209359

thats weird about the branding... although changes are expected, it seemed a few months ago at the ces show when the woman introducted the hp ipod, that it would be branded and colored differently.. i suppose it makes sense though, rather than spending money on manufacturing new cases.

edit : actually if you go on neowin it seems that they will be hp branded.. i was correct all along. heh

Controverse,  youve been registered for like 3 months, how would you be able to say anything last year?

He's is/was registered at AXP/here as "John(ny?) Rambo" (or something similar).
