Sp2-installed ...so Now Using Objectdock

Having just installed the Express ver of SP2 for my WindowsXP laptop, I am quite pleased with the over all performance increase with my system...

However, the one Dock that I 'was' using had all kind of issues, and more then likely was conflicting or most probably was broken with SP2...

So I am using ObjectDock, and quite frankly, I like it...lol

Being able to choose either .ico or .png for icons, and its 'browsing search' mode is nice...

I have thoroughly reviewed all the available 'docklets' available for OBDock, but unfortunately do not see any' iCal type docklet', or any type of 'Background type dockle' that would allow me to switch my desktop pics like I use to nicely with the other 'no longer under any development' Dock...

Any advice would be appreciated, as you get use to a certain feature on a Dock...then it is not there...Ouch!

:rolleyes::P

There seems to be also be a shortage of 'quality Backgrounds'?? Would love to have a ProLCD...like the one made by Juanra @gfxoasis...

SysStats has an iCal config, rather nice and better than the stock OD version. Wincustomize or DockEx would be the place to go to look.

For switching desktop pics, I have no clue. The only sort of similar thing that springs to mind is DTP for Avedesk, but that is only a window/frame on the desktop. It's nice if you like that sort of thing, but most of the time it'll be obscured by apps.

[edit] typo, I gotta slow down ;)

Dock2Dock will convert __dock backgrounds to ObjectDock backgrounds.

Ok..thank you gents, as I'm slowly getting more comfortable with ObjectDock, and that Dock2Dock app looks like just what I needed.

Another question (and apologies if this has already been covered in another thread): I have drag in the 'Show Desktop' Windows Explorer Command from its location:

c:\Documents and Settings\XXXXX\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Show Desktop

When clicked on, it does not do anything...This worked beautifully in the 'other Dock'...??

hrm... nevermind... i think i know which the that-which-shall-not-be-mentioned-dock it was lol

Well I must say that ObjectDock ver:1.04 is starting to grow on moi...lol! I now have the Judge's very cool SysStats Docklet & the SysStats Skin Pack (which includes my now new iCal-type docklet)

Thanks herd for your kind advice @DockEx forums...Hi Albeik!

My friend Keith (who does have Net Framework 1.1 installed) hooked me up with converting Juanra's great Yz Dock ProLCD Background...Thanks my friend, and good to know that Dock2Dock app, is simple to use and works well! I will be installing Net Frame 1.1 (30 MB) in the next week or so, becuase there are soo many nice YzDock Backgrounds that I want to covert...

If I could only get my Show Desktop-Quick Launch option to work then I would be quite content...

Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated!

coughcough Y'z coughcough

Anyways, I was converted to OD,

when I discovered the minimize to

dock feature w shrunken screenshot.

Then again, since WB can minimize to tray...what's the use

of a dock again, oh right , I know... :D it's a more stylefull way

of launching your apps.

Show Desktop: [link]

It's the only one I know of. Hope it helps.

hangar-8,

Ok thanks man...as I reviewed the various comments regarding the 'issue of the Dock disappearing' after clicking on the Show Desktop Docklet by Andreas V and yes it too happens to me...

Hopefully (fully aware) that he is presently very busy with other projects, maybe he will have the time to fix this minor, albeit annoying bug...

Regards...

There is no problem discussing Y'z Dock. We are only not allowed to distribute it. Discussions regarding the dock itself or docklets for it are perfectly but posting links to download Y'z Dock is forbidden.

Sid,

Very good...as clarifying this on behalf of A-S Forum protocol benefits all of us...

I'm having troubles with YzDock too now that i have SP2 Final. I can get my iCal v0.2.2 to work, because it crashes Yzdock.exe.. Anyone have the same problem?
