[question] Is This Possible?

I'm deeply impressed with all the work being done here, but I am curious and a bit perplexed.

Has everyone forgotten all the other AveDesk plugins?

Don't we have enough AveTunes skins?

I'm not looking for flames here, I am being quite serious.

There are currently about:

50+ skins for AveTunes

3 for Stickies

3 for Sysstats Clock

4 for calendar

50? does that really say 50? Do we really need 50?

Updating current skins to coincide with the new AveTunes 2 isnt a bad idea, but new skins just seem a bit lost in the mix anymore.

All of you are doing such a great job that it's a shame to waste our time anymore on new skins for AveTunes when all the other plugins have only 1, 2 or 3 skins.

So let's get to work, ok? Let's step away from the AveTunes skin freakiness and show some support for the other plugins.

I agree, I need a good clock, and the only good iTunes Konfab skins are Makki's so we should port those from OS X.

i agree... I think the #40 is the best itunes skin yet, and it's the only one i've been using. I digress, I think there should be more skins for other desklets and that we do have enough itune skins :)

Doesn't seem to have made an effect, either.

I'm beginning to wonder if everyones desktops have 13 or more iTunes controllers all running at once.

Have we forgotten that AveDesk was a tool made for improving the desktop experience and also making things easier? Not to mention increasing productivity.

At this rate, it will fall into the trap of 'toy' unless people start taking it seriously and creating NOT JUST SKINS but also new plugins.

Last new plugin I saw was about 3 weeks ago, I believe.

That doesnt include AveTunes 2 since Ave made it. I give him credit for it, sure...but why is the creator of AveDesk busting his ass while noone else has created a damn thing?

Ave needs a break, people...let's stop being lamers, lurkers, and moochers and start producing.

Because I didn't release a SDK yet (still need to find some time to stuff Delphi support in) and plugins are not created in scripts yet.... Of course, there is SysStats and I am waiting for some people to make some nice SysStats configs (RSS reader would be nice, world clock too ).

Oh and yeah, I am running 13 iTunes controllers at once :P

I thought it was just me, there are way too many avetunes skins! I guess people like avetunes but I can't even use the program, oh well I don't have a problem waiting for other stuff though to be released

As for the RSS reader, I'd love to see one (or work on one, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing it in Sysstats).

Anyways, I'm working on a few other things that will hopefully see the light of day. But first - :beer:

if anyone cares about my opinion i think it`s just cause it`s easier for people to make a skin than write a full fledget docklet ;)

i`m the prime example for that. i have zillion ideas for desklets but have 0 programming/scripting knowledge so i contribute what i can (skins).

herd talked me into learning scripting but i`m a long way from writing anything useful :(

Still, there are other desklets to improve on.

Just because noone is hip on making an actual desklet doesnt mean we should forget all the rest.

I do agree with Duckie that we are getting more and more AveTunes skins, but no real new desklets for AveDesk coming out. I would really like to see that World Clock Pro for Konfabulator widget ported to AveDesk as soon as possible - that looks like something I will have on my desktop.

People really will complain about anything.. I cant believe that people complain that they have so many choices. No one is forcing you to use them... The thing is... this is getting people who usually wouldnt release anything into the contibuting mode... skinning avetunes is appealing becasue its easy.. give it time and people will realize that skinning other widgets it easy too.

Reason #2 is becuase lots of people use avetunes.. not everyone uses ftp drop or icon drop etc...

I agree that there are a hell of a lot of avetunes skins... but you can never have to much of a good thing. Pretty much all of these skins are of very high quality which is an attribute to aves brilliance. I think even a blind squirrel could skin avetunes.

Trust me.. give it time and this will grow. No need to keep complaining. Just shut your yap.

Duckie; Im working in my spare time to bring the Aero Glass look you love so much to the different AveDesk Desklets. FTP Drop, iTunes and Notes are done, keep an eye out for Icondrop and perhaps a calander.
