I want to buy external HD to my notebook. 80GB LaCie d2 with USB 7200rpm. does anybody know its enough hardware to work with Photoshop cs? the way with firewire is only one 400 by the PCMCIA so its almost the same transfer about 35MB/sec. what do you think 'bout it?
[question] External Hard Drive
It should work. I ran it from a maxtor usb (1) for a while... no problems.
One question though, i can use that HDD on a PPC Architecture, right? why is this on x86?
EDIT: Edited for clarity, when i said i can use it on a mac, i meant PPC architecture... there are no macs that are x86 (no, pearpc is not a mac)

Yes you can... just cbackup all the data, and do a (assuming Windows 2k*), with FAT-32. Mac, Unix, Linux and Windwos can read ad write into the filesystem without a problem.
Needless to say you will have t mount it in a *nix before use.
mount -t /dev/(device file) vfat /mnt/(directory you created to set as a mount point for the drive)
edit://I hope thats the right syntax...
What did you mean by x86? x86 is a computer hardware architecture built around the processor, not a qroup of OS's. Sry if I got your words mixed up...
