[help] Site For My Home Church

Hey all,

I'm working on my home church's site (here's the mockup). This site will be very close to completion by the end of the week. Basically my church wants to pay me for the site, but I've never bid for a site before and don't know how much to charge for it.

The scope of the project would be for a completer redesign of the original site (Crossroads), and maintenance of the site. The site will have between 10-15 pages. Three of the pages will need to be updated monthly as a minimum.

What would be a competative rate for the implamentation and maintenance? I will probably be fairly generous towards the church once I have a good idea of the going rate. Thanks guys!

He's asking how much he should quote the church for his services.

I would suggest around $250 maximum.

I would feel horrible if I would do that. And every damn person should. Wether you belive in god or not (I have many doupts) it is very wrong to take advantage of innocent ignorant elders.....

Mah, they can get away with someone charging their services to them... i think Kjweb's price is fine....

When is started web designing i used to charge 15usd per page... (Compared to 150 they charged in proper companies).

Oh and its written calendar, not calender and promised land, not promise land

Actually, I wasn't looking to charge them so I don't think that I would be taking advantage of anyone, but the pastors want to pay me for the work. I basically want to give them a fair price that would help me pay some bills, but that would also complement their tight budget.

"Calendar" fixed but "Promise Land" is how they have that on their site...

So should I charge a one time fee for the redesign and then offer then an hourly rate for the maintenance?

Seph's right on the correction Orliville... it's supposed to be "Promised Land"

Like most churches they'd have a budget to work with... if you can fit into that budget then great... just stick to that number... I wouldn't go over board though.. just be sure that it is enough for you yourself to live on and make sure your bills are paid.

Sephs' also got a good idea too... $15usd a page isn't that much... and for maintenance, keep it simple for the church.

I wasn't disagreeing with Seph's correction, I had actually contacted the church to make sure that it's not a typo, but their program for children is actually "Promise Land" (gramatically incorrect and all...)

Thanks for all the advice guys, I have to pitch the site to the leadership board on Sept. 2nd so I'll let you all know what comes out of this then.
