This is available through Object Desktop using a nifty little app called (appropriatly enough) "Spring Folders". It works exactly like you want, and is less than the cost of a new Optical mouse.
THE REASON I point this out is that it seems far outside the purpose and functionality of AveDesk 1.1. Maybe AndreasV is ready to expand AveDesk, but it doesn't seem to be the next logical step in the development of his application.
It seems like that to me too, but I kinda doubt spring folders works with avedesk? It doesn't even work with IconX. :6
AveDesks SDK is capable of doing it, but it will require some decent coding work to be done first 
So you can make avedesk drill down into a folder as in the folder pops up and you put the files over another folder in that folder and it pops up and so forth until you let go it copies the file and closes the folders?
As a desklet, yeah, it's possible.
