IconDrop

Convert your icons!

Description

Widgets can and should be eye-candy, but since widgets are supposed to be mini-applications, why shouldn't they behave like a mini application and do something really usefull. Agreed, it's fun to have all kind of systemmeters, mediaplayer remotes, clocks etc, but those are only for fun, not for real productivity.

I'm here to give you a really usefull widget: IconDrop. IconDrop is an application on its own, by giving you the possibility to convert ICOs to PNGs and Images to ICOs. Instead of being a seperate application - like AveIconifier - there is now one in widget form.

Just drop the files on the widget, and shift+drag the widget to get the converted files.

The output format for icons can be defined by the user. Each icon can exist of 8 different sizes, and resampling is done with the highest possible quality.

Converting whole folders is as easy as dropping the folder on the widget and dragging it's converted version out of the widget!

Ofcourse, this widget is skinnable and does have the necessary amount of eyecandy and animations.

Kudos

Bzeitler, for the graphics and idea.

#205264

Most outstanding... congras

The only bug I found is when dragging a whole bunch of icons at the same time not all of them get converted.

Can you give me a list of the files you dragged?

#205270

Bill should hire you to integrate Widgets into Longhorn. You're a natural... just amazing.

#205271

Thanks a ton! Much easier than opening AveIconifier every time I want to do it.

#205273

with me it seems to hold the last image dropped instead of going back to the Drop icon here image

#205277

@GhostWalker: That's the way it works: when you have dropped a bunch of files, it shows the images on top of the background. This can easily be changed in the skin.ini (Skins\Default\skin.ini):

Original

[IconOverlay]
Left=25
Top=25
Width=74
Height=74
BgFileName=overlay_bg.png

No overlay version

[IconOverlay]
Left=0
Top=0
Width=0
Height=0
BgFileName=

Thanks Ave, would like to have both worlds after you drag your icon off that you made it reverts back to default bg.

#205280

This is the best yet. Thank you much.

Where's the dancing spots when you need 'em? :cry:

#205290

It says Ave Powered....does that mean if I move my monitor, Andreas will be behind my desk running on a tiny treadmill :blink::D

Nice job

#205295

To make this desklet super interesting, add the shake effect to it, THEN try to drag your icons and pngs onto it. :)

#205301

AndreasV you are a developper and a deskmodder god.

You're the greatest.

big respect to you :D

Ahhhh Respect Yes

First off, this is friggin' SWEET Andreas! MUCH easier than loading up Icon Workshop to make icons from my pngs.

Tiny things ... I'm with Ghostwalker here, I'd like to have the overlay of the converted files and once dragged off have the desklet revert back. VERY minor tho.

One other thing with regard to converting ico to png. Would it be at all possible to add an option to specify the size of the output png? For me they all output at 192x192. And most of the icons I get pngs from don't have that size, in fact most are 128x128. Perhaps the 'app' might be able to simply convert the largest real size of an icon to png? That way there's no upsizing and we get 1:1 pngs from our icons.

So for instance, an icon that has sizes 128,64,32,16 .. would output png to 128x128.

An icon with 32,16 would output a 32x32 png.

Just a thought ... if I'm missing an option somewhere please tell me ... read the thread and the ini etc, but can't find an option for output of png.
