Unbliever,

If one has the latest DesktopX beta there's something called IconX which will do just what you are seeking.

Other then that, there's no other way that I know of.

You could link a *.png as a visual representation of a link using Litestep... Visit Dt2 and search for Moshi's tutorials...

Can you also do linking using Samurize? I see that alot of you guys use Samurize for some cool desktop stuff. I just tried it out really quick today and it doesn't seem to bad. I now have some 128x128 PNGs for my 2 volumes (Filez and System) and one for the trash. But the thing is, I don't know how to properly link the PNGs.

I sort of rigged it a different way. What I did was I placed my original icons behind the PNGs that have been "pinned to desktop" so when I click the PNGs, I get the effect that they are properly linked. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...

Aries,

Meter linking is not supported on PNGs, but there is a workaround.

What I did was went ahead and placed my graphic objects and text in the layout as normal and then created a text meter that contained the link. In that text meter I had no text and I enlarged it to cover the PNG. I then moved the blank text meter to be on top of the PNG.

Once I run that config I can then, if I like, click on what appears to be the PNG and have it react as if it were an icon.

The only downside about do this sort of meter linking, which you may be aware of already, is that the config must be set to "Always On Top" or "Normal Window Behaviour" in order for the meter linking to work properly.

The Samurize developers are supposedly changing this in a coming release though.

I just tried that out Grusic, and it worjs great !

The only thing left I have to figure out is, what the syntax would be to link and iTunes icon so that when it is doubled clicked, iTunes would unhide. I leave it hidden while it is playing, but would like it to show when I double click the icon. Any suggestions would be appreciated ???

Thanks,

FatAxl,

I assume that you have a PNG that looks like an iTunes icon and have a text meter linked to QCDPlayer.exe, please let me know if this is not the case.

If that is your setup, clicking on the meter again *should* unhide QCDPlayer if one does not have it set up to run multiple instances.

It works that way on my setup at least.

Thanks Grusic! I'll give that a shot now. Samurize is alot easier to use than I thought. I can't wait to get my hands on a decent weather script/config and add it to my desktop...

Aries: You're welcome

magbi9: I still luv j00 dtop *KISS KISS* Ehehehe

Anyway, if my previous post didn't answer your question I will attempt to do so here.

Open up the Samurize config program.

Add a text meter

On the options panel for that meter will be a check box labelled "Allow Meter Linking"

Once that is activated there will appear "Link Properties" options just below the checkbox

There will be an input fields there labelled "Link Meter To" with example listed below it.

Key in the link, position the meter to where desired, save the config, then run the client and select the new config and enjoy.

Links needs to be double clicked to be activated.
