Aqua-Soft Forums[preview] Minium Calabi
Commented at MacThemes yesterday and this morning, personally I'm sick of previews at this moment - especially when none seem to give an indication past "soon" or "not soon." Which are relative terms. One person might think soon is within a week, some might interpret it as within two months.
Lazy so I'll copy-paste what I said there..
Not really overly impressed.. I don't get why all the Calabi MINIUM° icons are always shown on pure-black backgrounds, the sized down versions look blurrier - surely a mid grey would be much nicer as a preview, or even using one of the Calabi walls to see how they appear on them..As a friend said; if I had announced working on an icon-set for such a period of time and then shown what has been he'd of "beaten [me] with metal pipes."
Oh well. I am rather looking forward to Calabi, lets hope we all see that within ’04, eh?
(To all the people who will inevitably reply "Shut up and wait" or "He's busy, cut out the moaning" - there's slow and there's slow. If he doesn't have time to work on something as "awaited" as an icon-set or theme he should make a realistic estimate on release or simply not show a preview until it's close to completion.)

I'm not bashing the size of the project, nor the posting of previews. I'm saying it'd of been better all around for him to have said at the beginning (or months ago..) "Sorry but this is going to take a while - expect it by september" or something. Saying nothing at all doesn't help - and Mac users being the optimistic bunch probably check a few times every week to see "is it out? Is it?!"
It's the same with Calabi, yes it's lovely - but him just passing on a word to say it won't be out for some months is appreciated. It stops us all feeling like we've been forever waiting for something that for all we know could of been canned.

Get to work? I don't want to plug but I get encouraged to my own icon-set for some friends nearly a month ago - and I've spent my *free time* doing it, and do you know what? I stated it'd get release on the first of September, because people like the know when something is going to see the light of day. I don't know whether the '8th grade' comment is supposed to be insulting or what.. So I won't comment on that.
I'm sick of people saying that same over and over. "OMG some ppl hav a LIFE!" - then why should he care about posting a preview months beforehand? I UNDERSTAND people have other priorities, it takes less than five minutes to say "Sorry, I've been busy - expect it in X months." I won't kill him.
I haven't disrespected his quality of work, I've merely said;
• Either state a realistic release-date
or
• Keep people in the loop.
I really don't get where some of you are "so patient." Everyone I know, who's even remotely interested/knowledgeable about his work has said it's been unfair the way we've been uninformed.
I won't reply again, because it seems I've said the same thing three times now. And it still doesn't seem to sink in..

Yeah, pretty tired of waiting on these - Sasha hasnt had a release in over a year.
Yeah this is taking way to long.... I kinda hate the stamps like that, you can't easily create custom folders in the same style that way 
I think he just releases previews.
i too am sick of waiting so long, the previews should of been released closer to the release. and personaly i like the older preview, the new one doesnt look as nice.
@XP2003: its not that hard, you jist need some basic photoshop skills, and besides im sure practicly all the folders you would need will be made

Oh god doods, its his stuff, and he can release it when he wants ! Its not
like its his duty to feed your hungry souls with icons night and day.
Sasha has great talent - and I'm not surprised he is taking so long - as there is probably a queue of people round the block waiting for him to design for them.... and as always paying customers take priority 
The wallpapers look pretty slick though.

I am also getting frustrated with all these previews. Sascha is a great artist, and his work is immortal, but not even an update. He just gives us more pictures that show no more than 3 icons, 6 icons total. I would like to see some text that shows how dedicated he is to this set or something.
But I am sure that when they are released, it will take news by storm. But who knows when that will be.

In my opinion Sascha has not been very professional going about releasing Minium, if he has other priorites then state so on your website. I would completely understand if he wrote "I a plethora of work/projects to finish, Minium is postponed until further notice." However, his decorum of late has not been as professional as I and many other members would like it to be. During this entire Minium controversy, which was further enlarged by Lou's icon (which thankfully brought attention to this issue), Sasha's silence has been somewhat disturbing to me. Sure previews are nice, but I'd like to know an expected release date...even if that date is 1 year away. Frankly, all this waiting has enhanced people's expectations of what Minium and Calabi will be (when it's finished, if ever), therefore when it is finally released, certain people will inevitably be disapointed. I expect a slew of "All this wait for this"? replies. I, as a person who isn't blessed with icon-making powers, understand that it takes time and effort into making even a single icon; often taking 6+hours. I suppose what I am trying to say is that if you plan on taunting people with an iconset you do not plan on releasing in the near future, please have the curtosy of telling the many fans (myself included) of your work, because it's not fair waiting 8months or so for an icon set.

God to all the whines: Do your own icons based off his. I mean you're so damn good. It's his project he releases them because he wants to, not because he has to. He has no obligation to give us icons. So why are you all complaining? It's not like he's making you pay for the icons. Don't like the way his looks? Make your own? Don't know how to? In the wise words of Dave Chapelle. "I guess that means you need to STFU".
He's not being professional? Hire him a hype manager.
Taking too long? Do it yourself
Unlike some people here he actually has a life outside his computer, some of you should look into that as well. You guys expect the man to be finished a few days after he announces it.

hey man, that wasnt the point, he shuldnt announce it before his almost finished (like a week or something from release), so he dosnt have to deal with those whines. and your not a god.
