Well, How Did You Came Here First Time?

Well, in my case, the last Apple I used was an Apple II with 64 K Ram.

Never envied Aqua in the first place, cause never seen an Apple in action

since, eh, 1985? Lisa? Macintosh I? Don't know for sure.

I was bored and surfed unmotivatedly if there was something catchy for my

WindowMaker install on a SuSe 7.2 Linux. There wasn't anything so I had a look

for KDE themes (which were too bloated for aforesaid Linux on a 486 anyway)

when some milky theme catched my eye. On the top corner, there were some

gadgets that measured something. I scrolled down and actually saw the poster

admit that it was a shot of a windoze app named Samurize, which he wished would

run under Linux as well and photoshopped it into the shot of his desktop. That

struck me: A Linuxer thriving for some windoze software? No way! Must see it.

Alas, said equals done I finally found the samurize site, got Sammy 0.8

somehow up and running and whilst editing my first config it hiccuped so boldly

that I saw my first BSOD (blue screen of death) on Windows 2000 in 2 years.

While searching for a cure on the samurize site I followed a link and kinda crash

landed here and fell in love with all things Aqua...

Now its up to you to tell your story about discovering this place, your relationship

to the emulation challenge, and if you don't have the time, drop a vote before

you go...

I was really intrigued by the Aqua style and I had been taking a Visual Basic class. So I was searching frantically for controls that emulated the Aqua style. I was so happy when I found the Aqua-Controls and Aqua-Apps here (now banned) and I stuck with A-S ever since.

Edit: Whoops, went off topic. I can't remember the site that linked to here since it was so long ago (before the Great Crash). But re-found in when I was looking around AquaXP (before they were such a huge community like A-S). Then I re-joined immediatly.

Kinda funny actually... about 8 months ago I decided that I wanted to change the way my computer looked... I clicked on "Browse for more themes online" under appearences in windows. That took me to some sites online and I ended up downloading style xp and mimic brushed for xp. I had never even heard of aqua emulation. So I started looking around a little more and found object dock... then wincustomize for docklets... then from there I was reading about how to make your dock work like the mac dock and found a link to aqua-soft. I ended up here and havent left since. It is really funny though becuase I never though I would ever be able to contribute anything to this board and I was really lost. Now here I am...

thats my story...

Me? The summer before going off to University I held a LAN party, invited friends over and made a weekend of it. One of these friends (you'll see him around the forums as neXus occasionally) was running a dock application (I think it was Moby?) and I thought it was kind of neat. At that time, had no experience with Macs or anything. Nexus, when asked, directed me here, so I came and looked around.

Played with the docks / samurize for a bit, ended up not using either anymore. In fact, I have no idea why I still lurk around this joint, Aqua emu doesn't really interest me. Never has. It's a mysteryyyy....

My story is kinda similar to bzeitler's, I got a really, really, I mean really old computer from my parents when I went away for college (well, if by away you can count a 15 minute drive :D ). I was using my computer, and noticed that my roommates computer looked a lot better than mine did. I was using Win 95 even though it was 2003 (yeah, its sad, I know) and she had XP. I tried to install xp on my computer, but not having enough space I figured I would try to at least change the way IE looked. Well, I found wincustomize after a google search, and after using Windowblind for a while then discovered Objectdock. I had always LOVED the way that the OSX looked, but never even knew there was any way possible to get a dock on my computer, being that I didn't have a mac. Well, I installed the dock, loved it, then googled for osx emulation, or how to get xp to look like osx, not sure which one I used, but eventually after following a couple of other sites found AquaSoft. I was soooooo amazed at all of the programs, icons, and skins that I could use to make my computer my own that I ended up changing every aspect of my computer that I could and ended up with the configuration that I have today. It makes me know that I'm doing something right when my little 10 year old sister says "Wow, I love your computer, I hope my computer when I'm older is like yours." All of the people on this site are so nice, I just joined a couple of months ago so I haven't posted a lot, but I hope to change that the longer I'm here! :)

After seeing Jaguar somewhere (Interweb, Compusa,...?) I Googled in search of how to modz0r my winbox's GUI. Iceman's site was one of the links I went to. I used his Jag theme, Y'z Dock, etc for a month or so, then lost interest and went back to Luna/classic.

About a year later (October 2003) I saw Aqua in acton again (don't know where...) and remembered how cool it was. I went off to find Iceman's site again. By then I had forgotten the name ('Iceman'), so it took me a while, but I found it again.

That time, I followed the Aqua-Soft link there, and here I am. Whop-dee-friggin-doo. :)

a long time ago, in a galixy far away, i saw my brother with some old program that i fail to remeber, im sure it was something stardock makes, but anyway, he made his computer look like a mac (very poor by todays standerds). and i was like thats pritty cool. so i typed something at random in the address bar hopeing to get a cool mac emu site. i typed www.aquaxp.com, and i found a gem of a site, and one of the links there was aqua-soft.org. and after me bouncing back and forth from the two, i decided to make this site my home(and my home page).

memories.....

I used to hang around WinCustomize, until I stumbled upon AquaXP, I hang around for a while and even achieved newsposter status - that was until the database crashed and they lost the last 3 months of posts... I lost my status - ALOT of posts so I was kinda pissed! That made me decide to move over the the 'big boys' Aqua site.

I don't what happened. I sipped this smoking concoction from a coconut that i got in a bungalow somewhere in central america. my asthma acted up, then everybody started to laugh at me, and I blacked out. when i woke up, i was in an internet cafe outside of Cosgrove, Indiana, drawing these stupid little wookie-like avatars.... constantly muttering to myself, "I drew this myself... I drew this myself... I drew this myself... "

I was googeling for aqua-duct's and i saw aqua-soft. I immediatley though how big of a loser can you be if you play dress up with your computer. Then i took a good look in the mirror and recieved my answer.
