Xdvd - Powerdvd 4.0 Skin

OK.. well i've finally finished my PDVD skin (been working on the bloddy thing for about 4 months now.. :S man time files )

....Just finished makin the last few images i needed and put the final touches to the code (like about 30min ago, i need sleep :S).....

this skin has both the horizontal and vertical states and therefore can only be used with powerDVD XP

*douh*.. *smacks head* yah.. that's a bug ..@#$%...crap ( forgot to change on imge set)..

can't believe that one slipped by me (i had to change one of the original options available in apples version from title to source and i reordered the buttons.. but when i was fixing it up i guess i used one of the older images and it sliped on by me..

..it's all better now

..there's a possibility but it all depends on how much time i have available..can't say for sure now but i'll look into it tomorrow (today's St. patties day an i'm gonna be a lil bit tied up)

Thanx a lot neXus, you did a beautiful skin! Sure it is my default from now on, but I would ask you to improve the borders, like iTunes skin... also the decrease and increase volume images are white surrounded, is this intented?

Another question, would you be able to enlarge the skin? I mean, not the complexity (I rather a skin with no many useless buttons), but the size, 'cos at high resollutions it would be difficult to read some buttons. (Yes, you can say each button function is fastly learned but...)

That is pretty good Nexus.

Got a couple of questions:

1. The volume slider doesn't work for me. (It's stuck at high)

2. What are the right most buttons on the slider control?on the popup shelf

3. I'm only getting the horizontal skin only.

4. There are a couple of controls that are missing which are key to a video player.

a) You don't have a scrub bar (scroll bar) that as you drag the video can move forward or backward (I'm not talking about fast forward or backward). It's the indicator bar that shows you if you are at the beginning,middle, or end of the clip.

- I don't see the button for capturing a stillshot of the video(picture capture). This is very convenient because it is highly reliable when playing not just DVDs/MPEG2 but also MS-AVIs or MPEG1

1. well the volume slider probably isn't working for you because it's not a slider you can't grab the little ball and move it up and down.. powerdvd doesn't allow for that to increase or decrease volume you have to click on the images to the left and right of that bar.

2. here's what all the buttons do:

(btw the audio mode and angle buttons only work with certain DVD's just like on every other pdvd skin)

3. You have to click the "switch skin button" and as i've stated this is only for PowerDVD XP (4.0), if you have a version which is older than this one you can't use a second state it's not supported..

4. sorry but this skin was made to mimic apple's dvd player to the tee (save for the switch skin button, and the source button.. had to alter them due to program restrictions).. and so nothing is really missing that is "key" to a video player (apple aient got it.. an i didn't need it )

I don't see any white sorrounding the up/down volume images. (an if there is it's ment to be there ) not sure what i could do for the borders.. they look good to me.. they'd be alot better if winFX would apply a shadow to it *shakes fist at stardock* lol... an what res you running at? cuz if it's resized it's gonna look like crap..

I'll have to use another skin that has more features than this Apple like skin because it does not implement 2 features that I feel are important in a video player and are common to PowerDVD XP which this application is. Maybe you'll consider this at a future version.

I'm using the latest PowerDVD XP and clicking the volume doesn't work either so you got a bug.

Your skin looks great and so does your site, too bad your skin at the moment handicaps the power of PowerDVD.

You want something better then take your time, and put your own effort into making it.. this skin was made for me.. the only reason i released it here was because ppl have been looking for it for a long time.. If you don't like it then too bad.. go use another skin..

.. apple's dvd player is all about simplicity it provides the user with the "key" elements of a dvd player without crowding them with usless functions that would only be used by the select few... in making this skin i had the choice to add whatever i wanted to this player and i opted to keep it the same...

1)..because like this site which is all about coping/emulating/mimicing apple as closely as possible i wanted this skin to be the same.

2).. I saw no need for any other usless buttons (whether you do or not)

the one's there ARE the most common control's

so basically man.. Do what you wan't. no skin off my back.. lol (get it.. skin.. aha haha.a.a.a..a........ ohh.... )

and about this volume bug.. Does anyone else have this problem???.. i don't.. you are selecting these right??

have you gotten all the updates for PowerDVD?.. does volume control work on your other skins?cuz the command is the exact same as the one's used in every other skin.. and like i said it works for me..

Yes , I have all the latest upgrades on PowerDVD so maybe it has to do with the way you implemented the skin because all the skins I use from other people work just fine. Since it doesn't have 2 key features :

1. picture capture and

2. video scrubbing.

ok.. man sorry if you thought i was being a "smart ass" i tend to react quite rashly when i've been offended.. and by offended i don't mean by your primary comments.. about possible improvement's.. i mean by what seemed to me as your blantent bashing of me because i didn't want to impliment your suggestions..

.. lets clear this up.. the xDVD skin will stay as it is (aside from the possible addition of iFix buttons) because it like so many other os X skins (itunes - qcd) is almost an exact replica of the original..

.....nothing's missing I've made other skins, and actually i'm working on one more for pDVD but it has nothing to do with apple.. and nothing to do with apples dvd player and therefore will have almost all the other features.. i understand the capabilities of PowerDVD.. i've been skinning the app since i first got it.. but this skin was done a specific way for specific reasons...

i'm sorry that you don't seem to like this, but really no one is forcing you to use it.. i'm not trying to offend anyone all i wanted to do was share this skin with the aqua-soft community..

i'm still not understanding how the volume buttons arent working for you i grabbed the files that i put up on my server and they're working absolutly fine for me no problems at all i don't understand... i double checked the code and all the regions are set correctly (just two square sections around each of the volume icon's to act basically as "mouseover" regions) i'm really not sure man.. try downloading it again maybe something was corrupted in transfer *shrugs* beats me..

.. Again i ask.. Is anyone else experiencing a problem with thee xDVD skin??
