[help] The Ftp Drag Desklet In Ad 1.1

I can't seem to get it to upload my files. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong.. I'm filling in my username/password/server correctly.

There are two options which confuses me (see picture) but I've tried turning them both on to no avail. I know my ftp server works because I'm using Bulletproof FTP usually to upload files.

I tried searching the forums but didn't find anything....

I'm not to sure about the Passive button, mine's enabled anyways. As for the Directory and Link format, you need to put them in.

Example: for Directory, I put Images as the name as that's the folder on my server that I want upload to. For Link format, I put http://www.shaw.ca/{username}/{directory}/{file} - set this up in the way that your server/webspace is set up, as it may be different.

I hope this helps!

What about the NAME dialog in the top? I'm confused about that since there is also a USERNAME....

Thanks :)

I'm not too sure on the name dialog. I just put part of my websites title (as shown on the titlebar in your browser). Maybe ask Ave about that one - I wasn't too sure myself.

Ave?

#203292

The name dialog is for the preset feature which doesnt work (Ave? That would be really nice)

Passive is for if the server has a firewall. Make sure that you have the port correct and the server is NOT ftp://server.here.edu. Its just server.here.edu.

*Hey Seph, how about a [help] tag here!*

and just wanted to add , you don't need to complete the link format box

#203363

The server should not have ftp:// in front of it.

If you keep getting problems, check this thread.

The name is, as Juno said, for presets. Give the config a name and press the Save Presets button. Next time you rightclick the widget, the preset will show up in the Presets menulist, so you can switch fast and easy between presets. It should work.

The Link Format box is optional. You can specify a link format in there, and the widget will auto-generate links for uploaded files. Right click the widget to select the links from the rightclick menu to copy them to the clipboard, or shift drag the widget to any more advanced textbox (wordpad, ms word, msn messenger).

For example, the link format for my server is

http://mpj.tomaatnet.nl/{file}

AveDesk will automatically replace {file} with the filename of the just uploaded file, {server} with the server address, {username} with the username etc...

Hmmm...presets should work then? I guess I will reinstall and see what happens.

Thanks for the extensive information :)

I can't seem to get it to work though... not even to save a preset (they're for having multiple ftp accounts right so you can choose where to upload your files)...

Maybe you have to restart the system for it to work? (I don't wanna screw my uptime ;) )

I tried the other dll you made and clicked the checkbox for "Show extended information in a popup window" but nothing showed when I tried to upload...

Help please :)

If you disable the built-in firewall in XP SP2, does it work?

#204752

My server format is listed as "ftp.twistedcpu.com", with the proper directory path to each FTP folder listed seperatly per FTP drop. For example, my ART FTP Drop is "/public_html/zombie/screenshots/AS", with passive mode turned off.
