[release] Ilisten - Itunes Widget

this is just a quick little widget i made up to use with iTunes to show the current song. i have no idea if it will work with other systems/OS's, so dont complain. it was just made for me to use and thought someone might see a use for it.

it was built on a windows XP machine using microsoft visual studio .NET

so i guess you will need the .net framework from ms.

there should be transparency set to 75% in the latest release.

is no one seeing a slight transparency?

ok, so the ini support isnt done yet... my attention was sidetracked by a new feature... rating... you can now view and set the rating from iListen...

also, is no one seeing any transparency when using this app?

Yes Iam seeing some transparency but not enough, stars for the ratings could be a little bigger and they dont stay centered with longer titles.

wow your right, its using more than itunes is. i have itunes.exe at 39,888, and iListen.exe at 46,800.

other than that, its a really nice touch. keep up the good work.

i fixed the centering problem with the rating, i wont be able to post it until sometime in the next few days, im moving back to school, so things will be hectic for the next few days...

im not sure why the memory usage is so high. its usually no more than 3 megs... which i agree is kind of large, but its written in VB.net... so that could have something to do with it.

keep an eye open in this forum for another app of mine i will probably release. its a free version of appRocket (or launcbar for mac). just a quick utility to launch programs... i think its cool, and a bit more useful than iListen...

ill try to get to the ini support sooner than later for iListen, i promise!

any other suggestions to put into the next release? im looking into changing fonts from the config file, but i havent had much time...

wow, o totally forgot about iListen until a few days ago when i wanted to know what song was playing without showing iTunes...

so here is a slightly different version (eventually i hope to merge all versions together and have the option to select which look and feel you want to use. but for now, heres the new version.

this one will show the current artist, album, track and year when a new song starts playing in a more minimalist view. it will scroll all the data into view from the top center portion of your screen. you can have it be transparent, configure the text color, size, font. the only downfall is that right now alpha transparency is not possible with the text... i hope to investigate that in my free time (from Launcher and my studies), and figure out how to do it.

Hey, so far this is really nice! One thing i noticed is that when you go to close iTunes it waits for like 3 seconds and then says are you sure you wanna close cus something is using the iTunes scripting interface and it counts down till close or you can click cancel or close.

Just thought of this: try adding next previous to left and right sides of the lil widget box. i think itd look better as plain text but underlined rather than as the reg iTunes buttons
